Only Selfish Love didn't but the idea itself was good i think My choice of single after release would be Adiós. i do agree that Selfish love being pushed as a pop hit during the era was not a bad decision. (also the video is extremely under-appreciated) for me the problem comes with the marketing aspect. you are marketing this era as a return to your roots and culture and then release a single as the hype for your project that feels a bit out of place, because you are aiming to further break into a Spanish speaking market with a song that sounds like Lean On meets False God but with no strong hooks. i feel like she needed to have several reggaetton bangers really pushed at the same time to elevate the chances of the songs being played at clubs. they play a lot of the same artists on rotation, and when you only have one song to pick from, and haven't offered a variety of different vibes, it diminishes the chances of breaking through. i do think that the rollout was very impressive from a US standpoint for just being an EP, but again, i do think that the choice of making Selfish Love the third single hurt the longevity of the project. Adiós would have been very cute especially with a remix with one or two other female artists.

lauren198 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 the best intro to a new era imo would be a live performance of her hits and some covers (like the old Unicef concerts, she could do it for the Rare impact fund this time). but one thing that the documentary shows is that she can't sing LYTLM live, and that is not even her hardest song to sing, so she probably also can't sing Sober or the Dream cover anymore. In this case just release good singles and make radio and streamers plataform good deals or go the Bad Liar route, without expectation for hits but aiming to conquer new audiences(although I think this route only works for singer-songwritters)
