Bestie she ATE that verse. Bop from day one. Why wasn't that a huge smash?

Also, how underrated her verse in Loyalty is??? She ate that up also

Stumbled upon this... currently going through deep nostalgia. Missing when she was in her bag like this.

Born Again is not it…

It sounds like a Rated R reject and not in a good way. I hope this is not promoted

Born Again is very mid tbh. I miss her voice so much but that song did nothing to me

I like it very much.

And it's a much more 'usual Rihanna' song.

But I think LMU is the superior song and understand why it got chosen.

Anyway I'm glad to have 2 songs to get of the draught and happy to like both of them a lot.

Anyway... BA doesn't seem like it will do much tbh.

WTF happened here??

We finally get a new song...

We got the SxF show yesterday...

LMU is starting to stabilize and even climb nicely...

It's smashing radios...

And this is deaddddd?!

Where my navy attttt

I genuinely think she's lost people with the Depp thing.

Loyalty and Lemon are both so good.

I think she has lost it. LMU and Born Again quality is what she is capable to serve now. It's just been too long and things have changed.

Artists usually lose it and come out with very mediocre material after long breaks and she seems to follow that pattern.

Also she lost her cool factor. She looks deeply unsatisfied and insecure nowadays whereas she was coolness and confidence in human flesh before.

I don't think this is true.

I think she can serve a lot more but she is just aware of the pressure and expectations for her own music.

Releasing LMU takes the pressure away from R9 Lead as it will be a BOP in comparison...Russian Roulette is a bop in comparison.

I think she is losing the baby weight fast (not that she needs to!) and feeling more confident.

She just needs to make sure the Superbowl performance is incredible and rollout her new era with quality - she needs to do this sooner rather than later IMHO.

This is a complete and utter reach.

The woman is nearing 35 years old. She’s no longer in her 20’s; she is now a mother and her priorities have completely shifted.

She hasn’t lost her “cool factor” nor does she appear “unsatisfied” and “insecure”. As a matter of fact, she strikes me as an individual that has come into her own as a woman and is continuously growing.

From a creative standpoint, “LMU” an “BA” are great songs. You could argue that they’re typical OST ballads but what about these highlight or represent somebody who has “lost” their artistic streak simply because they haven’t released music in 5 years? I’m sure R9 will showcase a brand new growth in her artistry actually.

:rip:

The truth is that many Navy members are still INFATUATED with Rihanna from yester-year and haven’t realised that she has changed and aren’t willing to grow with her. If that’s the case then you need to find somebody else who is young and fresh to stan because you’re just going to disappoint yourself moving forward.

They’re just f*cking miserable and insufferable.

I’ve never known a more unsatisfied fanbase who holds their fave to such high, unimaginable, standards.

Not even the Hive put Beyonce under so much pressure and scrutiny, and Beyoncé is far more elusive and non-communicative with her fanbase than Rihanna is.

Just listened to the full Born Again and I genuinely think it could've been a huge smash for her. It's so frustrating that she wasted the comeback on LMU. Her vocals sound amazing on BA and much more natural, the song really builds into a great climax, the outro is really cool. If we'd got this and LMU didn't exist I'd have been so happy.

What were they thinking?

Great post, I’m glad there are a few rational navy still around because some of the posts I’ve seen the past couple of weeks are just… :rip:

Born Again with a proper final chorus instead of that outro would’ve been amazing and a big hit. The first 2 minutes are balladhanna at her best. I can’t stand it :jonny2:

I’m kind of amazed at the poor reasoning that has infected this base. Even if these two songs are the absolute worst songs on the planet, the idea that they give any insight into her own project or musical leanings is ridiculous. Just look at the credits. The songs were both co-written and (co-)produced by Ludwig Grandson. Ludwig is the musical director for Black Panther. He oversees the entire sonic landscape for the film. This wasn’t a case where they asked her for soundtrack songs and she gave them what she thought was the material she liked the most. This was a case of the Black Panther team working with her specifically to craft songs that fit the musical landscape they were creating for the film.

Also, enough with the Johnny Depp bullshit. The “evidence” against him all comes from a proven liar who showed herself to have ZERO credibility through HER OWN testimony. The woman lied and contradicted herself in so many big and small ways that I’m baffled that any thinking human being expects Rihanna to take her side. While Rihanna was donating money to help women and children, the woman in question was lying about doing the same. If you want to carry water for that fraud, do it elsewhere among the other unthinking half-wits who are so careless with their words that they trap themselves in corners from which they can’t come out and admit that they’ve been fooled.

The likes :clap3: she's still so effortlessly cool even when talking about her newborn. Love her.

It's 3x platinum in the US, so not a huge smash but still pretty big for a song that peaked at #36. And yes it's great, i've always loved it. :clap3:

Really love Born Again too. And the outro is cool. It's that typical Rih ballad that always sound good but with a mature voice.

But LMU is superior. It's more deep, is simple, different and elegant.

Glad we got another song some of y’all can like.

LMU is her best song since Same Ol’ Mistakes.
