zzmyth Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I dont think it will be a hit. Or it being intended to be one. I kinda think that being successful takes chances at the oscars (I know that sounded weird in my head too... but it kinda does)
katara Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Ngl I am kinda mad at what she served us. After 7 years of drought this bland and forgettable lullaby is what we get? It's literally in the same quality lane as that horrid Gaga soundtrack song Hold My Hand. Yes I know this is "just a soundtrack song" (even though there are many good soundtrack songs that became big iconic hits so that's not an excuse) and that R9 is (maybe?) coming but still this being your first appetizer after such a long time is a tragedy. Way to subvert expectations and kill off hype. Literally pulling a GOT season 8 on us...
Cheers Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Nhevi needs to listen again. It just hit me hard. I love it and I see the vision The comments from non stans are really good too

Anyways so happy she’s back, I hope the Navy can enjoy it and try not to feed into trolls. At the end of the day ANYTHING she released was going to be heavily scrutinized. There was bound to be ppl who disliked Rihanna’s new song regardless of genre - imo it’s better that intense pressure be put on a soundtrack song and not her personal album Perfect take on the whole situation. Still, what a beautiful and touching song.
GoodGuyGoneGhetto Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Ya’ll need to stop b*tching. I don’t know what anyone expected with a tribute song? The song is just fine and will do what needs to be done. She’ll come back with an upbeat lead single in a few months and ya’ll will be saying the same thing.
lonnie Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I'm actually glad we had time to absorb the information before this dropped on us. I probably would have been very disappointed if this was a surprise release with no prior info But like again a song honouring Chadwick wasn't going to sound any different. I understand those that are disappointed but it's really one of those situations where no one's at fault really. Not the fans who expected something explosive to mark her return and not Rih for choosing to honour Chadwick and contribute to the film. There's still more music in the coming months so hopefully, this will blunt expectations a bit and they'll be more people satisfied then.
DonDesperado Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 It's beautiful. Her voice is more mature. I cried too Its a tribute to Chadwick what are u expecting? S&M / rude boy?
Miseducation Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 A live acoustic performance will make it a hit
zzmyth Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I really like the fact that she serves us something different each time. She really has something for everyone. And that is something very few artists can say tbh. This was shoking? no. This was beautiful? absolutely has this been stuck in my head since spin #3? HELL YEAH
EliteNaviShit Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 its a pretty song but id prefer if she just waited until her lead tbh. tems couldve easily sang this herself and would still be cute but i guess disney wanted a bigger name in the soundtrack. i dont mind it tho. just a bit bummed cause now the gp will all be like “we waited 6 years for this? “rihanna mid” etc. would be really cool if she gets a grammy for it but i highly doubt it
Paola Bracho Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 They have to release the video asap so people can connect to the mood of the song.

katara Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Is R9 even coming? AFAIK no one has a clue about that. Imagine if this turd and the other lullaby are everything we gonna get Way worse than not releasing anything.
Winmill De Kwynn Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I won't stream it non stop for sure But I think when Lift Me Up start being played when Black Panther ends that will be a MOMENT

kweenofxanax Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 After digesting it these past few hours, yeah its a yawn/meh song. I was very happy to hear her vocals though, so many beautiful nuances to her tone . The issue with it is production and lyrics, absolutely bland and no depth whatsoever. It would have benefited from a better build-up/climax that propelled the emotional impact of the song. IMO, lol this strategy would probably annoy the Navy...but I would be completely fine if she just called it a day and re-recorded one of her past songs (Stay, etc) and do a darker, sombre reinterpretation of it for the film (similar to what Bey did with CIL for Fifty Shades). And I'm saying I would be fine with it because my hype remains 100000x for Super Bowl and with the hope that R9 is still coming very soon. But alas what's done is done, I'll wait to see the film and whether I'll be more into it when I see those emotional scenes. Also there's still the possibility of a better one in Born Again, knowing that Fauntleroy is attached to it

Peroxide Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Whew, I was rooting for her but she really let us down Rihanna ballads are usually a homerun but this is just BLAND. Nothing remotely exciting or interesting about this... Let's hope Born Again is better.

Indigo Blue Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Lift Me Up is definitely Oscar material. Ppl disappointed: what did you expect from a soundtrack song dedicated to Chadwick? “Birthday Cake”? “Pour It Up”? My only complaint is that it’s too short. Her vocals >>>
abelfenty Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 One thing about France is they ALWAYS show out for Rih
abelfenty Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 It's debuted at #19 on UK Apple Music. Instrumental version is also charting at #105

EliteNaviShit Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 She really does sound heavenly and better than ever. I cried. We’re not ready for the album.
