We know she was working on the album and writing even in 2022, but then she had a big break-up (which we know cuz she talked about in her email and how important it was for her) so of course album had changes after that probably 2. I think after Girl So Confusing Remix, she got influenced and wanted to record more songs for an already finished album, like to add some even more upbeat/clubby things. I think it was more in the vein of adding more songs, not like changing the entire album. In the brief moment after the GSC remix release I really didn't think it would affect her because I genuinely thought she was close to being finished with L4. Since that version will be A YEAR OLD in 3 months, I think you're right. It had to be momentous for her to have that be so well received. If the Talking Heads cover unlocked something for the new album then surely this did as well. Also, I hope you're right that it only adds to the tracklist rather than completely altering it. 10 hours ago, Everyperfectsummer said: I'm used to her 4 year cycle but lately the waiting has been unbearable We need a little insider tea that gives us hope but doesn't interfere with the roll out Agree - this feels even more like a drought than previous eras. The cryptic and asynchronous posts don't help, either. But I think she wants that this time. Also, I've said this previously, but I don't think we'll get insider info. It was pretty disastrous for SP. She'll probably be more careful about where the music is kept, and most likely won't give any info pre-release. I don't think we'll get another "She's a modern girl in a deadstock bikini, in touch with her past and her future, vibrating at the highest level when summer comes around. Her skin is glowing, her lovers are many. I'm completely obsessed with her, and soon you will be too" ever again. Any measures to diminish expectations I imagine will be taken. 2
Golden Hour Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Ella where are you? In other (semi-related?) news, her younger sister Indy is releasing what sounds like her best song this Friday. 2
Letemtalk Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 So those leaks were fake. I must admit that first one did sound a bit generic/AI generated/could have been anyone. Now another major festival announces a line up without Lorde. https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/lollapalooza-2025-lineup-sabrina-carpenter-twice-1235924764/ I'm not sure if we should read too much into the festival announcements, although it's not a good sign that she seems to have nothing booked in the near future. For Melodrama and Solar Power we had festival announcements before the era started, but she might be taking a different approach this time.
Letemtalk Posted March 22 Author Posted March 22 https://x.com/TheLordeCult/status/1903047819197321227 12. Lorde — Melodrama (2017) Quote Its opener, Green Light, is arguably the song of the century, but the rest of Lorde's tribute to youth and hedonism features some of the most sophisticated floor-fillers of recent times. There's a confidence in challenging pop formulas by asking, "Do we really need a verse to always follow a chorus?" and coming up with the answer: "Well, no." pitysmith Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I'm choosing to believe 2025 is actually the year. Even if she earnestly began the process in 2023, it will be about 2 years now. Do we suspect anyone else is releasing later this year? 1

Do we suspect anyone else is releasing later this year? i never doubted the 2025 theory. the process began in 2022 btw so kinda the longest she ever worked for an album 😩 and every album of hers had a 4 year gap sooo i don't see why it wouldn't be 2025. 1 1
Letemtalk Posted March 30 Author Posted March 30 She always starts something about a year after the last album, but her original ideas often gets cancelled, changed or delayed. In 2014/2015 following PH and the Hunger Games soundtrack, she was working with Joel Little, but I think she said in an interview that when she wrote with Joel, it often ended up sounding like something from Pure Heroine. Also in an interview, she talked about having a theme about aliens arriving on earth, but she canned all of that, although some writing with Joel Little found it's way into Green Light. In 2018 she finished touring with Melodrama and she later on said that was when she started to write some things that eventually became "Stoned At The Nail Salon". She also said that she bought demos for "Solar Power" and "Stoned At The Nail Salon" to Jack in the Summer of 2019, two years before the album release. So she seems to be following a similar script, early plans, possibly some early song writing sessions with Dev Hynes and perhaps she worked with Jim-e Stack while they were on tour in 2022. Then she was working with Jim-e again in London in 2023, before doing a mini festival tour in Europe. She might have decided to change the theme or sound of the album, but no reason to think the time-line is going to be a lot different than before. 8 hours ago, pitysmith said: Do we suspect anyone else is releasing later this year? There is always someone releasing, but it depends on the label, who they might want to prioritise to get a summer release, and who gets to release later in the year, before or after the Grammy cut-off window. 2

Yeah! I've kept track of the journey, I just meant even if the work she did a year after SP didn't pan out, she has still had 2 years worth of actual studio/writing time. Letemtalk said it better than I did. ↓↓↓ 16 hours ago, Letemtalk said: She always starts something about a year after the last album, but her original ideas often gets cancelled, changed or delayed. Thanks as always for documenting this! And you're right about the planning of release schedules. I feel like she's said something along the lines of no need for competition because she has dedicated listeners and it doesn't matter to her, but I can't imagine a label would just let the next album come out whenever. 2
