I thought she was well known in the fandom, no? Maybe it's just because I love Brazilian memes and I thought everyone knew her :deadbanana4:

Yeah, she's quite infamous in the Brazilian gay scene, it's just a kii seeing her here nn

For me, the "problem" with her recent performances on big stages is that they feel... irrelevant. If it's just her and the piano, we know she'll slay and it'll be good, but it won't be extraordinary.

If you hear that Beyoncé is performing at the Olympics, you know she's gonna go crazy and big because she makes 1 or 2 appearances during the year and they need to be excellent.

Gaga doesn't need to prove to the general public that she's capable of singing or that she's much more than just a costume. It's not 2017. They already know because that's what she's been serving during the last couple of years.

It's time to bring the threatics back. Now that would be a gag.

I feel the same way. It seems like she always wants to prove to the public that she's a legitimate singer and not just a pop star, but it's getting a bit tiresome. Her performance of Hold My Hand at last years Oscars wasn't good, in my opinion. It felt contrived, and even her facial expresions seemed rehearsed, unlike her previous acoustic performances where you could see she was truly pouring her heart and soul into it. That's why I loved her "Sound of Music" tribute. She didn't need a piano or choreography, just her voice, and yet the performance was still theatrically Gaga. I remember Wendy Williams was still raving about it a year after it aired. While it's great that she's performing at the Olympics, I expect it will be the same as usual. I'm actually more excited for Celine, as this marks her comeback to the industry after dealing with significant health issues.

I think Gaga and Celine will both have their share of solo performances. Apparently, Gaga opens the ceremony and Celine closes it. Celine is rumoured to be singing Hymn à l'amour  while Gaga's solo song choice is still unknown and after Celine's solo performance is done, perhaps Gaga joins Celine for La Vie En Rose for a duet.

So excited to watch history unfold tomorrow. :WAP:

If I may add to this point, it's quite the opposite. Even my closest friends, who know more about Gaga thanks to me, now recognize her primarily for her acting or her "legacy act persona." (And find her quite boring comparing to others :rip:

Her "classy/jazz/hac" performances might receive praise from critics and members of the academy, people over 60 etc, but they don't leave a mark in pop culture. Outside the gay/pop bubble, people don't recall these performances; people mostly remember what she did in the 2010s because those were iconic.

Her most recent iconic and widely recognized performance was when she jumped from the stadium during the Super Bowl, and that was almost 10 years ago.:suburban:

Like, I'm not trying to be ungrateful and I know she's not 25 anymore, but it's obvious that the perfomance will be another version of this:

And that's boring. It was good the first 5 times (and sometimes absolutely BRILLIANT like the Sound of Music performance you just mentioned), but it's time to move on now. You're not Sara Bareilles, b*tch.

If you search "opening ceremony paris 2024" on Google a countdown will pop up, we don't know when she will be on tho I don't think we will know in advance

Yeah, I understand, but we can recognize as fans that that phase of her career and those performances were absolutely necessary. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't even be discussing the optics of an Olympics' performance in 2024. We know that being a classy/jazzy/hac act saved her and, because of that, she then tried to please her fanbase with Chromatica because that's what we demanded from her. A wilder side again.

The thing is that at this point she should be able to combine both things and be her usual classy persona with a bigger/more ambitious approach, but she refuses.

Maybe we're wrong and she'll surprise us this weekend, but I seriously doubt that. I'm still excited tho.

The IMAX thing I'm going to starts at 1:30pm ET (NYC). It always starts with the performances and ends with the Parade of Nations, where all the athletes are going to arrive on boats. That's the part that takes forever.

Someone didn't watch Chromatica Ball it seems. That's the perfect classy Gaga and ambitious approach combined. Or Jazz shows where she performs pop tracks with jazz touch and wild outfit.
