- Mariah Carey was 39 pushing 40 when Touch My Body and her album E=MC2 both went #1. Beautiful was also a cute little hit for Mariah at 44 years old.ย

- Cher was 52 years old when Believe went #1.

- Madonna was 47 years old during the successful Confessions On A Dance Floor era which also delivered one of her best tours. She is currently on a world tour still doing her thing.

- P!nk doesn't really have many recent hits but she still has successful tours which is more than enough to keep her going.

- Beyonce was 40 years old went Break My Soul single and Renaissance album both went #1, she was 41 years old when Cuff it became a streaming hit and landed #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and she is currently 42 years old touring the album.ย

ย

I'm aware that ageism and misogyny is still rampant in the industry but let's stop acting like all women are guaranteed to flop once they hit 40 years old. We know its more difficult to get hits but with the right material it is still possible as proven from the women I listed. I have no doubt Gaga can still get hits here and there during her 40s it just depends on how she handles her next era. Her team really need to get it together for the next album campaign.ย

I was about to bring up COADF too.

Didn't Sia snatch several hits in her 40s as well?

Pop culture seems to be more open to entertainers in their 40s, 50s, etc. than ever before. Michelle Yeoh's Best Actress win this year made this pretty evident.

ย

People are also streaming older material extensively, giving veterans somewhat of an advantage. Gaga can still score more hits/hit eras. It really just boils down to how she executes and how much effort she puts into her work.

She has plenty of ballads, jazz songs and a whole album (ASIB) to show off her voice, also even her last studio album had some of her very best vocals despite being inspired by house music. I think she already showed people sheโ€™s an amazing singer and doesnโ€™t need to release more acoustic songs but thatโ€™s just me. And definitely not Adele or Celine Dion type of songs, nope.

Agree. There are so many genres and ways in which she can showcase her vocals and raw talent. And when I think about why I love Gaga and why she's a legend in the way she is, it's because of her bold artistic voice, willingness to take a risk, and the fact that she's stood for actual things during her career. Her doing a bunch of generic AC rehashes is so at odds with what makes her such an once in a generation artist. And frankly, it would be below her level as a musician. Everyone knows that she's capable of more than imitating Adele.ย

ย

Also, it's not at all crazy to say that she can release projects that lean into her uniqueness/artistic vision and display the raw talent that gained her so much respect in recent years.ย

Wait now you're saying ballads are ineffective at displaying uniqueness and artistic vision? That's not so. And you're saving that ballads are ineffective at displaying raw talent? Quite the opposite in fact. Only those that are great talents can carry ballads or acoustic music.

Would be awesome if this was some kind of Halloween boost, but it's probably just Spotify changing its algorithmย

The way Godga would DEVOUR if she served an album sonically like Post.

Itโ€™s so painful when I always rank Teeth last cause itโ€™s like a 9.5/10. I can write a thesis about how TFM is the best female pop album (and era) of all timeย

Why do some of you make the argument that Gaga's ballads are "just like Adele's" when it's completely not true. Not in style, vocal delivery, notes.ย

ย

Gaga overall has very distinct 70s mid tempo pop ballad style, which is why the Elton influence makes sense, and some of the ASIB material very deliberately feels inspired by the 90s ballad queens, but still very Gaga.

I don't think putting all your cards on Joker: FAD is super smart. The movie can flop, it can smash but have a flop award season, Gaga could be DRAGGED and nominated for a Razzie (it's happened to the greatest), she could smash award season and the movie could smash the box office but the soundtrack could be a flop, her movie and her acting and the soundtrack could all three flop and then what?ย :bird:

ย

Next year, after a year of anticipation we get a flop movie, flop soundtrack consisting entirely of Jazz covers and flop acting and then have to wait another year for her new album. It would be kinda hilarious though but let's hope notย :deadbanana2:

Not Michelle Yeohโ€™s Oscar win being proof that Gen Z is into older entertainers. Ageism is as bad as ever. :rip:

Yeah Iโ€™d expect the movie to do well but the soundtrack to not make noiseย

lbr HOG was way more of a recipe for disaster (the accents, release date during the peak of Covid, films messy pacing, the awards szn villain by most pundits & fimbros) if she survived all that, then reckon JFAD will be fine, at worst itโ€™ll replicate a similar run to Wakanda Forever

No new ballads for a couple of years, please. Maybe one attached to each of her next 3 albums (which will be full of up and mid tempos). Gaga can save them for when she is in her late 40s.

It really is. No wonder why it's one of the most streamed albums of its time while only having 8 tracks.

ย

Honestly though, most of her albums would've been masterpieces with 8-10 tracks max. We already discussed this, but one thing that really drag her records down is the amount of mid-bad songs in them.
