I think it's going to spend a good chunk of time atop the Hot 100 too. It's never been weak in the US by any means, but to be atop Spotify US and Youtube US five months after release (while the song is also reaching new peaks on radio) is mindblowing.

Yeah. It will be number one up until Superbowl when Kendrick probably going number 1 if no big artist releasing before that. But LG7's next single could dethrone it.

So it'll probably rack up 4-5 weeks at #1 by that point unless something else blows up. And it could always return to #1 a few weeks after the Superbowl too. This didn't even feel within the realm of possibility as recently as early December, but this song is such a smash  

 

and Girlfriend (for the Weekend) (with The Weeknd) is coming

As early as now, DWAS is a contender for #1 YE song this year. It will be Gaga's first since Bad Romance to have a top 10 YE song.

It could contend for YE #1 on the BB100, the IFPI #1 of 2025, and the most streamed song on Spotify ever. It's tracking to become the biggest female song ever on Spotify this year, and Gaga's 5th diamond single. It's locked to become Gaga's biggest hit on Billboard ever. And who knows how well it'll end up doing on Youtube, the video already has 3 months with over 100 million views in each. Several videos that are at 3-4 billion views now never accomplished that.

I still think putting DWAS on LG7 is a good move, but she should have treated it as a bonus track and added it onto the streaming version, and then later on release an expanded edition of the physicals with DWAS on it.

 

From the outside it just looks like Interscope put pressure on her. We know labels don't like to invest if they can't see something in return, Gaga might've needed leverage to get her promo for the album approved

It's because a lot of Knee stans felt Gaga's debut took away from her comeback. They also didn't like that she was friendly with Perez, but it's mostly because of the former. Ironically, the source of a lot of that hate (and the birth of the OGH mentality) originated from this site 

 

Madge fans didn't really start dragging Gaga as hard as they do now until Alejandro/ early BTW era and then later again with the reductive comment.

that + the title having DIE in it kinda connects it to DARKPOP the album 

my only problem is the wig, its screaming a different era, if she used a black wig for DWAS it would have been much more fitting

I think her "personas" have become quite blurred nowadays. The "GAGA" side feels underutilized, especially since her last pop album came out five years ago, and she's been emphasizing the "Lady" aspect more in her recent works. Because of this, I'm not entirely sold by the idea of two distinct personas for this album. 

 

Regarding "DWAS," the song was originally conceived by Bruno and his team, who then brought Gaga in to finish it—and she certainly made it her own. However, by that point, LG7 was already in the mixing phase after nearly two years of work. Conceptually and artistically, the two projects stem from very different creative processes. While it's possible for her to connect them in some way, I doubt those connections were intentional at the time Disease was released, especially since she stated in interviews as late as November that it wasn't part of LG7. It seems more like a coincidence.
