i don’t think Kelis is miserable. she’s certainly been thru a lot. maybe her anger was misplaced, and i do wish Bey had sent some type of formal notice that Milkshake was gonna be sampled, but it’s Phatrell that’s the problem in this situation … not Bey. Kelis has the right to be mad at his corny ass.

No like it's actually so stupid. And what is so (tragically) funny about this situation is that we know Bey most likely came up with the melody herself independent of Milkshake, and only later decided to credit it as an interpolation to hedge against any potential lawsuits but also to do something nice for Pharrell and Kelis. Only for it to end up being spun into stupid mess :rip: Like it is literally not even an interpolation in the way "ooh la la la" was

EXACTLY!!! It had nothing to do with Milshake. Then some one at parkwood crossing T’s and dotting I’s said “Maybe we should credit the Milshake song just in case”.

It was an after thought. And since Bey went ahead and added the credit she tried to be nice and feature her as a CREDITED ARTIST which is completely unnecessary, but she wanted to Celebrate those who were sampled. And instead of just accepting her flowers, SONG-LEASE wanted to create a scene.

i can’t stand her hating @ss now.

Kelis just lost a husband to cancer and is now a single mother of 3 kids. 2 with her husband and 1 with Nas. Seems to me she took out whatever struggle she is going through on Bey instead of the men who stole her music from her. I hate such women. Always have the most anger for other women but never for the men who actually do them wrong.

I feel for her with what she's gone through and I'm completely on her side against Pharell, but Bey had no obligation or duty to go beyond what she did which is get the song legally cleared.

Her and her sister coming for Bey calling her a mannequin with "art" in quotations / accusing her of worshipping the devil is revealing in and of itself

Kelis also never liked Beyoncé. When she was married to Nas, she used to call Beyoncé and Jay Z devil worshippers. It aint new for her. She is not well in the head, Nas said it a few times but people thought he was just hating on her because they divorced. Now you see it.

Not playlisted + at the bottom of the album tracklist.

I feel like those Twitter and tik tok edits were doing wonders attracting people to alien superstar and this Era as a whole while Parkwood continues to use the least possible approach at this time.

Right!? And I’m That Girl getting AHAP’s deserved streams. The audacity!

I kinda wish Pure/Honey were two different songs.

I think eventually it's going to get to the point where I burn out on Pure and just want Honey.

i mean yea she shouldn’t be exhibiting so much animosity towards Bey. it’s just a sh!tty situation all around. i still do feel bad for Kelis in all of this even if she shouldn’t have been lashing out towards Bey bc u can tell her anger comes from being mistreated by so many others for so long. it’s not Bey’s responsibility to rectify all of that or right all of those wrongs for Kelis nor should Kelis even begin to expect that from Bey but ….. i still really like Kelis and wish she had everything she was owed for her impact that was robbed from her by bad label deals and contracts.

I keep forgetting how long this album is (16 songs) because it’s soo good it goes by fast. I think it’s her longest album right?

I remember comparing to I am Sasha Fierce which was like 11 tracks and The Gift which was like 13-14 songs but seemed to take forever :rip:

This is the first time in what… 15 years (?) that Kelis’ name has done the rounds in the press. She knew what she was doing and she got what she wanted. It’s funny because even if it does lead to a resurgence of her music all that’ll happen is more coins for Pharrell and she won’t see a penny of it. So what has she gained? :lmao:

idk if anyone else remember this interview, there was a question where her response was something like "I want to be a legend" and for some reason it stuck with me all these years because i find the trajectory of her career since then (a decade later) really amazing and how she really positioned herself as a legend :clap3:

miss kelis, thank you for the publicity you gave the album for release week :gaycat:

Kelis really did us a favor because without the drums, the La La La are more prominent. An angel in disguise i fear

Whatever the case, Kelis had NO RIGHT to bring Beyoncé into this, much less call her a satanic ***** for something over which she had no control. You have to be seriously entitled to expect Beyoncé to give you a ring for a barely audible 10 second sample. :rip: It just goes to show that it was never about the sample in the first place. I hope she enjoys whatever publicity she got.

I can already see the media reporting that Renaissance debut lower then lemonade hinting that people aren’t as into the album and completely ignoring context. I’ve already seen a couple of discourse on tik tok about it.

Anyways I hope the visual is coming soon.

I’m literally over discussing that woman it’s beating a dead horse at this point. All her credibility went out the window the moment she decided to call Bey soulless, her intentions were not pure and she can just stay mute now :cm:
