PrudenceHCharmed Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 I wonder how would the B'day era turned out to be if Beautiful Liar was the lead single.

Virgos Groove Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 Imo, the singles should've been: Upgrade U Get Me Bodied Irreplaceable Beautiful Liar Green Light (with an actual push in the US)

Its also probably the track that made her believe she doesnt need to release singles anymore because the "public will choose"

I feel like the collaboration between B and Shak will probably generate alot of hypes and shocked the world; compare to the controversial Deja Vu. Upgrade U is good but it's not shocking enough especially when she did Jay Z collaboration with CIL. Besides, the Arabian influence and the video will cause alot of conversation imo.
*-ChriZ-* Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 New theory: Bey is waiting for TikTok to die cause she hates that app nnnn

I mean, we don't have to imagine it. It did generate a lot of hype and shocked the world... but US radio barely touched it. I don't think it would've helped sell the album. On the other hand, Upgrade was a certified SMASH waiting to happen. It was the perfect first single. BL should stay as the re-release single, helping to shift units internationally.

Starshine Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 The comments has me screeching. Beys choreo is lowkey so iconic.

Deja Vu was just a frontloaded mostly US hit. Upgrade U should've been the lead single or at least should've replaced Ring the Alarm. Irreplaceable was always going to be that girl.
benyonce Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 Beautiful liar is bottom tier in her discography. Every time I click shuffle it comes on because I have multiple versions and it is an instant skip. I do have great memories of the video being everywhere here in Australia though. Upgrade U is superior.
Devin Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 Of her peers Bey has the least amount of bad singles tbh. Also Check On It is her most slept on #1 hit.

Agreed on Upstaged Vu being the lead single. Shakira was barely getting Hips don’t Lie up and going around the time so for their collab to be the lead it would have just gotten lost in the mix. While BL did it’s “job” it felt kind of lackluster. I expect more from these two, their collaboration should have been something catchy, a banger to get people dancing, something to the beat of “Wild Thoughts” or an English version of “Las de la intuición”, maybe a hint of “She Wolf”. They should have spent more time on their collab. I’m still mad they never performed it together. Putas.

Used to hate Check On It, we’ll not hate but was never my favorite or held it to high standards but dear lord… it’s just such an easygoing, care free, fun, ear worm of a song and it slayed effortlessly. What we wouldn’t give now for her to release something like that today. The looks in the video are immaculate.
Danger Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 I think she planned to release already, but something must have happened.

I remember when I was a kid the video being played on MTV and of course the iconic "Beyoncé Beyoncé" & "Shakira Shakira". I'm speaking from an WW perspective, not sure how thing goes in America.

Just watched the video on Twitter and me too kinda missing the old Beyoncé who seemed "happy". Of course post-4 era is good critically but it just feel so....sad and depressed?
