I really hope 16 Carriages becomes Grammy Nominated. An absolutely monumental single.

Do we know how genre nominations work in the Grammys? Is it only the country voters who can nominate for Country awards? Because if the CMAs are anything to go by we might have a situation where CC has representation in the Big 3 and Pop categories but gets snubbed in the country ones

correct. and it will likely be snubbed in those categories.

each genre has a "committee" with "experts" in the genre who get to decide the genre categories. daddy lessons was rejected in 2016. it is partially the reason CC exists.

Grammy's doesn't "enforce" which categories/genres a voter can vote in.

They limit the total number of genres one voter can vote in to 3. From the rule book:

Quote

they may vote in up to ten categories across up to three genre Fields plus the six categories of the General Field

Grammys have massively ousted "committees" since the 2018-19 scandals.

Bey's music has already been vetted and mainly assigned the categories we know she's submitted them to. This is where her music appeared on the Grammy round 1 ballot:

Album of the year  Cowboy Carter

Record of the year — "Texas Hold 'Em"

Song of the year — "Texas Hold 'Em"

Best pop solo performance — "Bodyguard"

Best pop duo/group performance — "Levii's Jeans" featuring Post Malone

Best R&B song* — "Tyrant" featuring Dolly Parton

Best melodic rap performance — "Spaghettii" featuring Linda Martell and Shaboozey

Best country solo performance — "16 Carriages"

Best country duo/group performance — "II Most Wanted" featuring Miley Cyrus

Best country song — "Texas Hold 'Em"

Best country album  Cowboy Carter

Best Americana performance — "Ya Ya"

committees definitely still exist.

nope. Round I voting already happened — open to all voting members of the Recording Academy.

yes, there are still committees. they DO NOT decide the nominations, just whether a song/album "fits" the genre category it was sent for and sorts them.

She already passed this stage. Daddy Lessons wasn't allowed to be submitted in country. It was outrightly rejected, CC already got in.

I predict 6 nominations

Album of the year

COWBOY CARTER

Song of the year

Texas Hold Em

Record of the Year

Texas Hold Em

Best Pop/Duo

Levii Jeans

Best R&B Performance

Tyrant

Best Americana

YAYA

Posted (edited)

My predictions:

Almost 100% getting nominated

AOTY - Cowboy Carter

ROTY - Texas Hold Em

Country Album - Cowboy Carter

90% chance

Country Duo/Group - II Most Wanted

Best Americana performance - Ya Ya

80% chance

SOTY - Texas Hold Em

Country Song - Texas Hold Em

R&B Song - Tyrant

50% chance

Pop Solo - Bodyguard

Country Solo - 16 Carriages

30% chance

Pop Duo/Group - Levii's Jeans (This is risky because they can't nominate Post Malone twice, both "Fortnight" and "Levi's Jeans," per Grammy rules.)

10% chance - Almost no shot

Melodic Rap - Spaghettii

Oh we discussing Grammys. Nothing more depressing for me than such intricate Shammy's talk.

Stream CC for clear skin and election cope!

I wonder if the GRAMMYs will try to overcorrect Trump's win by pushing more left leaning artists

The Grammy Guru (on Twitter) has predicted:

AOTY

ROTY, SOTY - Texas Hold'Em

Melodic Rap - Spaghetti

R&B Song - Tyrant

They left her out of Pop Solo for Bodyguard and said Pop Duo will come down to wether Levii's Jeans can pull more votes than Fortnight since Post Malone can't be there twice.

They didn't do predictions on Country nor Americana.
