Trying not to get too conjure-ish, but her popping up/out (e.g. GQ) tends to align with her dropping/doing something. It may well be a promotional piece for SirDavis and Cecred. But could also form part of creating pre-tour announcement visibility.

It's definitely giving British Vogue vibes when she announced Renaissance the same day. Some information is probably coming relatively soon. And imo the interview doesn't come off as a promo tool for her side ventures, she talked quiet a lot about CC, her passion for music etc.

Granted logic and predictability have long gone out of the window with this trilogy, I legit could see her dropping the visual component (for everything) in conjunction with the launch of Act III. Thus tying everything together, ending the chaos, and making it the one Act to truly benefit from having visuals out of the gate (which will dub as "promo" in place of her doing anything conventional). The drawback is that Acts I and II will, visually speaking, have been the sacrificial lambs...but hey it is what it is at this point.

IMO she's used up the goodwill and stunt-ery on Acts I and II with the whole "no visuals" thing. Even from a marketing perspective, it's no longer the flex she thinks it is. I'm very dialed into the reality that Bey is not above stunt marketing and has, in fact, very actively embraced it for the last decade plus. From the surprise drop to the visual album to the genre experimenting. There's always an angle, a story, a (for the lack of a better word)...gimmick. It's worked well, but as we even saw with BIK (which is exceptional and ironically her best visual to date iMO), there comes a point when the audience gets tired of the same marketing schtick. Especially from someone who has the fortunate/unfortunate rep of always having to innovate every time.

That plus the fact that the GP has diminishing attention spans plus the Hive's frustrations pluuuuus the fact Act III is likely another left genre (which comes with the risk of polarizing), I can't see her chancing another visual-less release unless she's looking to flop. CC has done well but it wasn't Rennie from a momentum perspective, so there has to be a fresh stunt (outside of just another genre switch) for Act III and I really think it will be finally giving the visuals and making everything make sense (holistically).

Sidebar: Pls spare me the "she doesn't care about sales. She's a saboteur!" spiel. Because her flogging those Beyince vinyls to snatch high first week sales says otherwise and makes abundantly clear that she and her label care about her commercial performance. 2000%.

This whole thing, in a bizarre way, just reminds that as much as her perfectionist nature is legit and baked into her brand, the reality is that ish can and has gone left and forced her to "figure it out" as best she can. IMO, the following have all gone awry (against the backdrop of the music doing well) and impacted where we are now:

* The Visual Itself: she wasn't satisfied, bunch of reshoots, and potential reconfiguration of the entire concept.

* Streamer Push Back: I also believe the streamer reluctance tea (as they largely have pulled back on splashy/costly music partnerships. That AMC model she and Taylor did is becoming way more attractive/lucrative to stars who otherwise would have got big streaming checks around Homecoming time e.g. BTS did an AMC film, Usher doing something similar now off the back of his resurgence).

* Injury: We know she got the surgery just before the tour, but she had been shooting videos before that. Assuming she had been managing to get by, I can imagine that would have affected her ability for things like choreo. A posey-posey, choreo-starved visual for a Dance album would have got her dragged and may actually contribute to her (alleged) dissatisfaction. That and her aesthetic (another day, another convo). Let's just say our girl looks more agile and Beyonce-esque now than she did in 2022 when shooting.

* The Sphere Fell Through: We shouldn't undercut how one piece of the puzzle f**king up can have a domino effect on other ish. Assuming she really was teasing a residency with the Super Bowl commercial, it's safe to say, she would have launched it this Summer (in alignment with her kids' schedule). That changing easily could have thrown the entire CC era off its axis (behind the scenes). Her only other live output would be a stadium tour and we know she's a summer babe. Stadium dates are booked months, sometimes up to a year in advance. So, the Sphere falling through would automatically fling a stadium tour or even a residency elsewhere immediately into summer 2025 territory.

This was way longer than intended lol, but I just find this current phase of her career so intriguing. IMO, this chapter of hers is way more layered and complex than the info she's given us or what we may assume at times.

We also know there was meant to be a Summer Renaissance EP drop this summer with some live versions of Rennie songs and uptempo versions of CC songs inc. a video for Bodyguard. This might have been an EP designed to re-ignite Bey's demand in the lead up to a Sphere ticket release, which ultimately never happened. There was also the drama with The Dream behind the scenes, which she has navigated wisely by laying low I think as it all pans out (it's unfair on her ofc, but seeing how the Dr Luke fiasco has stifled KP6 this was the right approach).

R.I.P. to Mr. Beverly. Before I Let Go will always be a classic.

I love the GQ interview btw. It low-key confirmed some things for me.

A video for Bodyguard and nothing for her previous singles? :suburban:

I don't know, that rumor seemed quite odd.

You've worked on several Beyoncé albums and produced her solo debut single, 2002's "Work It Out." What's it been like to see her evolve over the years?

So happy for her. And I'm so grateful to be a part of her story and her journey and her trajectory. We've had a lot of fun. Get ready, though. Just get ready.

Get ready for more? What?

Just get ready.

What?!!!

Just get ready.

Really hope this is hinting at music for Mufasa this year.

I know some hive don't want The Gift 2 but I'd love it. New music is always a win. And it's not like TG2 will stop act iii coming. We can hopefully have both. :duca:

I actually love THE GIFT just as much as I love EVERYTHING IS LOVE, but that doesn't mean I want a sequel to either s:wan:

Her doing another compilation type album would be a huge distraction for this "trilogy act" imo. She should do a cute little song or two/maybe with Blue (?) but that's about it.

Gift 2 = 5 year old Gift 1 rejects. She doesn't sing anymore. She takes old songs that she recorded years ago and releases them like new. I saw a viral tweet making fun of that fact that she's always seen with a cigar in promo pics and that's why she's a tenor. She needs to put that **** down she will ruin her voice like all these other smoke addicts. How do you say you're putting your health first by cutting meat but inhale burning smoke into your lungs?

Apparently it was meant to be a 7/11 style video and labelled a 'visualiser' rather than 'Official Music Video'. Sounds right on brand for this trilogy era imo.

It just part of the aesthetic for the era, like the cowboy hat. Nothing more.

And before anyone says it's unnecessary, the whole aesthetic of the era is built around a black modern reinvention of its references. There's the 60s Linda Martell updo (white vinyl), there's the huge blonde Dolly wig (red vinyl), the reference to black cowboys (blue vinyl) and there's the braids, red white and blue shash, smoking habit and braids referencing Willie Nelson (black vinyl).

The essays, the think pieces, the excuses we come up with for her not doing anything. Beyince/CC visuals - shelved/postponed, Rennie visuals - shelved/postponed, RWT film/live album - not on streaming, Summer Renaissance EP - shelved, Bodyguard video - does it even exist?, The Sphere residency - cancelled.

Bey has to be the unluckiest artist alive OR maybe she is the America has a problem.

the video was apparently just going to be random footage spliced together. not an actual MV. like the TikTok/IG reel she posted.
