If there was an album that needed a strong push from her it would be Cowboy Carter… her core audience is not into country so this album was always going to be a harder sell by default. The fact that she's just coasting again takes away all the fun and it's showing in how it's performing. She got lucky with Renaissance imo. But Renaissance had that uniform quality and her core audience was eating it up. But as we can see with CC's performance thus far that energy is not being replicated.

2 Most Wanted being an outright flop :deadbanana4: I would've said maybe Bodyguard shouldve been picked as single #2 but idk I think that wouldn't  have done well either at this point.

She giving more energy to shampoo than the music :gaycat6:

I agree with @Kristie Kuwa

Stans have to adapt. I know I am. I spent 6 months into Rennie being pissed. And honestly should have known better than and tempered my expectations with that release.

Beyonce hadn't lost yet with any of her studio albums. Sis get her lil moment #1 hit, #1 album, dominates the culture for two weeks and goes back to driving Blue to school. And after 27 years, it's still a slay. Stream crush when she out, decline when she gone. People still show up to the tour. She grosses half a billion. A winning formula for a stay at home mom, tbh.

THIS!

It's admittedly a tough pill to swallow, particularly because her album output continues to be elite. But it's ultimately where I land while going through the gamut of feelings about her and her antics.

I try not to lose sight of the fact that she worked to get to this stage of effectively being a "special attraction" / limited visibility entity.

She sold us this workaholic, overachieving image, so it's very logical as to why our expectations are so...lofty. But, the older I get, the more I'm clocking on to the fact that she too is getting older. And as my own priorities and approach to life shift, so will hers. Especially being an active mother of three.

I think we can all be frank in saying that we simply want her to lean into being more of the conventional Pop force she once was...and sold to us for decades.

I think the issue/reality is that she is literally showing us that she's not going to do that anymore. Hell, even Beyonce isn't giving the version of "Beyonce" people mention when saying "you've got the same # of hours in the day as...Beyonce".

In simple terms, even if her image before reflected her reality (going in 1000% at all times, on all things), it's clear as day to see that she's transitioned out of that.

As seen with The Gift onwards, the visual output is taking longer but seems more intentional/conceptual. The tours are tighter (# of dates), but more culturally impactful. The choreo is less all-out (something I'd argue even predates RWT) but the grandiosity of the "show" is elevating each time.

Now, she still deserves a wig tug. Because there remains many more optimal ways to action the whole "working smarter not harder" approach to her career that she is simply not doing. But I guess this short (lol) take is to say my critique of her these days / moving forward is limited to / lives in the clear context of how she's defining her availability/capacity to be a" Pop star" at this point of her career.

Like OP said, it helps manage expectations.

Tyrant is really the All Up In Your Mind of act ii. Where AUIYM is the best song on act i, Tyrant is also the best (but unfortunately also the only listenable) song on act ii.

Lmfao first I thought you meant Tyrant was the skip of CC. Then I read the rest and it's even worse than that !? AUIYM being the song of Renaissance? That crack is CRACKIN babe

Before being disturbed, what I was going to post is :

today's song for me is Levi's. Beyoncé's added vocals on the last chorus OH MY GODNESS. They literally make me travel to heaven. An angel

Yeah it works for her. She's clearly happy. I personally just thought this drop off would happen later in her 40s into her early 50s. I honestly thought she became more aware of her age when she turned 40 and wanted to really have fun and be visible. I thought the semi traditional release of BMS and the overall fun sound of REN, and immediate DSP release were a reflection of that, but I was clearly very wrong.

I genuinely wonder if she knows her fans her upset or if she simply doesnt care and feel like she doesn't owe us anything

I'm sure she does care what fans think, but also we can't expect her to put us before herself/her family.

Creating content for us takes away time from her family and herself, so if she prioritizes that over promo you can't really blame her for that. I would def do the same

I get that she is not in her 20s anymore, is a mother of 3, has different priorities etc. But not even 1 music video? We do not need a whole visual film each time she releases an album, 1-2 music videos are more than enough. Not even 1 live performance as a "thank you" to her loyal fans that have been supporting her for so many years? She only does or has time for things these days if it benefits her greatly financially, that's it. And after being a stan for 17 years, honestly, it kinda hurts to see her being this way now. I guess I have to change my priorities as well and switch to being a casual fan.

We all need to come to terms with the fact that this is how she is going to operate from now on and it's only going to get worse with time.

If the plan is to wait until act iii is out to drop a film, I really don't see why they couldn't have at least dropped a video for BMS and then a video for TH'E. It wouldn't have taken a lot to do an alternative cut of the lead videos that doesn't give away the story (if there even is one...)

Hell we could have at least gotten something similar to those Chloe x Halle covid era performances, that basically look like music videos.

Agreed. If I were her and I had worked as hard as she had for all those years and decimated all the competition, changed the music industry and became a billionaire and a bonafide legend, I'd probably do the same as her.

Like we can get into the particulars about what we want her to do that she doesn't, but when you see it from her lense, you realize "Why should she care about all that ****?".

She won. It's all written. Everything we get now is just a bonus. She's having fun, and even that still take a lot of work.

The way this Trilogy could've been her magnum opus in terms of commercial success and quality if she gave af and maximized TFFFF out of it.

I know she's probably filming sh*t rn and getting things ready but I fail to see how she's creating any hype for the film when she's doing… NOTHING.

Ngl though some of y'all are being dramatic thinking this is damaging her brand. I'd rather her be quiet than be apart of beef like these rappers or getting critically PANNED (Tortured Poets Department) despite astronomical commercial success. Imagine almost going triple platinum in a week, but the thing most notable/rememberable about your album is that it was trash :deadbanana2:

At the end of the day no matter how much this album streams or sells, what we DO know is that it's a fantastic album and her most acclaimed studio album (and album of the year). Despite it being a genre she's NEVER done. And if time tells us anything, this album will become a classic years down the line.

the film was not done when the album dropped.

she was filming BMS footage (in that green suit) the week after the album released. there was no video to release.

i feel like texas was probably the same. we got that little teaser and that's about it. i think she is still filming things for it.

I doubt she was still filming BMS a month after the green suit. She could've dropped BMS (Single Version or whatever) then and even thrown that teaser of the multiple looks in at the very end to show more was coming.

didnt the single drop a whole month before the album? the song had already peaked by the time the album came out (which is when she was filming the video). if she waited until august to drop a video from a song that peaked in june, it wouldve been a wasted visual, esp because music videos are not boosting songs like they used to. might as well keep it for the whole project.

The whole project you mention will likely be dropped in full, discussed for a week tops, and then we'll be back to ranking albums again for possibly years.  I think there was a much better way to do this trilogy. The music is great, but it's been truly disappointing for fans.

I think some people have dropped off and I suspect even more will. It's fine that she doesn't care, but it's still greatly disappointing to other people. Her prerogative and I'm not mad at her as a person, but as a consumer I'm just sort of like... this is bleak.

Oh I don't disagree. but music videos are a dead medium. Dropping music videos would've been equally forgotten. People just don't have the attention span since TikTok took over.

Might as well make it a big thing and release it in theaters and make some coin back.

Would y'all want an AMERIICAN REQUIIEM teaser similar to ITG or just have her keep quiet until the visuals are ready? I'm curious, although you can argue that was the TH'E teaser

That's not happening this year tho, and I don't know if people will be so willing to spend the coin for it next year.
