Pepo Posted March 21 Posted March 21 1 hour ago, BOAZ said: The rock thing make sense if we consider the "re-appropriating musical genres with black roots" supposed root of the trilogy project, which perfectly applies to House, Country and Rock'n'roll. Other genres, like reggae or hip-hop, wouldn't make a lot of sense because I don't see people considering those genres as being invented by white people Also btw we're focusing too much on the genre, I would focus more on the storyline aspect. Don't forget: this ain't a country album, it's a Beyoncé album. Renaissance wasn't a house album either - the influences were there but there was much more. I'm sure CC will also feature a plethora of musical inspirations. There's a reason for Renaissance be about liberation and her reclaiming the Beyincé name on the cover: the focus here is on her own storyline and roots, she has always used a lot of different musical landscapes in her music - B'Day, 4, Lemonade are hardly just "pop", "r&b" records. The point is that she talked about her influx of creativity during lockdown: she channeled that into an abundance of music, and then separate the tracks into acts to serve her storyline. Some tracks on CC are probably older than songs on Ren... Precisely

ToraeGilt Posted March 21 Posted March 21 2 hours ago, Pepo said: And what if Act III turns out to be Rock? Then what? The process of reclaiming House as a black genre was basically confirmed by Beyoncé herself throughout the whole Renaissance era. Besides, as of now there are no hints of a Rock album whatsoever, but if it indeed exists, a few clues might appear in the booklet in the same way the Renaissance aesthetic predicted the Country theme for Act II. If act iii turns out to be rock then great but yall have a tendency to put certain expectations on her and when she does the opposite the base (some of us) starts dragging...

New music though? Mmmm... maybe a new song and a compilation of re-recordings? That would work. Otherwise, they all developed different paths. Reuniting and celebrating is one thing, forcing a new musical experience is another.
