So that poor man must have spent the last week watching the Hive wondering if his NATURAL FACE was prosthetics and FX make-up... What a nice feeling that must have been. Kristie Kuwa Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I always wonder why especially the black community comes so hard for Bey and I think ive cracked the code: Black communities are discriminated against and oftentimes live a life of struggle. I think because of that, they sideeye someone as successful as Bey who got it all - a family, super gifted, beautiful, powerful, influential. Shes got it all, yet she never had to struggle as badly as others (apparently). Jealousy and envy are thus at play: "why does she have everything? Oh I CANT stand it" Comparatively, white people are different. Because they usually come from a background of privilege, its much easier to uplift one another, even if the talents are so mediocre..u just have more to spare, there seems to be more "space" vs the token black popstar spot. Add to all of that misogyny, and it makes sense why Bey is always involved in some bs 1

But dare a white person attack Beyonce black twitter (non hive) go in full force to defend Beyonce. I have never seen black twitter side with Beyonce when the opposer or aggressor is another black woman. 1

Devin Posted February 19 Posted February 19 us Black folks know colorism is a huge issue in our community. 3
Pheromosa Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Colorism + Bey's natural poise rattles them because she refuses to stoop low so they can take a real shot

They’ll go so far to defend someone like Nicki, and Stan shows like the BGC. But when it comes to Beyoncé, they’ll do everything in their power to try and make her feel bad for not being problematic. We just need to make one thing clear, Beyoncé IS NOT like many of these black celebs, or ANY celeb for that matter! She’s attained a poise and status to where even when she was at that basketball game where the British Royals were, people were MAKING JOKES about “Look at at the Royals Meeting the actual Queen” . You’d think the community would be incredibly happy at the fact that we have such a woman shining a light, but sadly we don’t. Edited February 19 by cuteboyzay

Rotunda Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Anyway I feel like there’s a lot of reductionism and flattening of the Black experience being done in this thread rn in defense of Beyoncé. Theres room for a lot more nuanced discussions of her position in Black culture that don’t revolve around saying that she’s a victim of reverse classism/colorism from the Black community as a collective. 6
