Imagine if ACT II or III really is rock and she takes inspiration from Mad Max visuals.  I mean, the hair color is already there and it's a direct Tina reference.

Save it for next Christmas. “The Renaissance isn’t over” for a few more years

I took it out of my cart because I spent way too much money on film merch and I need to stand my ground with this woman.

For those wanting a Rock album, care to share what your commercial expectations would be?

I know that's not the be and end all for some ("art not charts"), but I often reflect on how much Rennie benefitted from the GP-pleasers like BMS, Cuff It, Alien etc. Both the album sales and tour sales.

I kind of take the opinion that any and every artist who is competing commercially ought to listen to the top 20/30 at any given time and ask themselves if the material they're about to put out fits in that mix.

Lemme be clear, that's not to say anything has to be a copy and paste or devoid of creativity or individuality, but let's not pretend radio and streamers don't have a certain... algorithm. Pushing the likes of Cuff It in a post-Levitating and post-Say So world felt pretty calculated and indicative of what's written above.

Some could say the same about a Country album (having the same issue as a Rock album), but I'd beg to differ. Country and Country-adjacent are "in" and melodically and sonically aren't far removed from what's currently proving successful on the charts.

If we'd thought she was doing a dance/house album would we have ever expected it to have a song like Cuff It? Like with all her projects the last decade, it'll be left of field but with R&B/pop sensibilities that bring mass appeal.

I don't expect her to be going fully Led Zeppelin on a rock album or fully Willie Nelson on a country album

I have always envisioned a Beyonce rock/country-themed album as one showing love to the many regional musical flavors of her home state Texas. It would be the perfect angle for her to cross the radio dial with an eye on rock and country. (When I hear "Echoville" I envision that Prada Marfa installation in the middle of nowhere... but that's for another time)

Beyonce's a hybrid girl: no album of hers has a singular sound. I think that's why I see commercial success similar to Renaissance: she is simply rebuilding her fanbase at this point after losing some with IASF, adding younger generations, and adding older generations who are surprised at her longevity, her talent-rooted entertainment style, and respect from acts of their day. For every polarizing statement record like  "Don't Hurt Yourself" or "Daddy Lessons" , I'm sure we would receive a very mainstream, "Locked Out Of Heaven" stadium-rock moment. We would probably also receive something "left-field but perfect" like SZA's "Prom", something completely stripped down like her demo "Stop Sign", a crossover record any country act would salivate for like Carrie Underwood's "End Up With You", a blues-gospel moment like Bessie Griffin "Old-Time Moan" (that she used for her first IVP x Adidas commercial), and something like "That's Why You're Beautiful" that mixes R&B into the rock/country gumbo. Hearing that Ryan Tedder and James Fauntleroy are potentially in the mix with returning trio Leven Kali / Sol Was / Daniel Memmi leads me to assume we'll receive songs with conventional choruses but strange overall structures. I have no worries that something will inadvertently be made for radio to latch onto, securing her the usual pop support. Her fans are also willing to traverse any genre territory, which must be exciting for an artist worried to alienate loyal fans.

When you add that she's an intentional girl with her eye on history...  she creates maximalist albums with so much substance it takes critics a little while to break everything down. I expect: samples/interpolations of Charley Pride, Rosetta Tharpe, Little Richard, and Big Momma Thornton; a country-trap posse cut with HTX talent Paul Wall / Bun B / Slim Thug / Trae Tha Truth; maybe even a surprise Texas Selena Q "Tejano" moment with an act like Rosalia; something co-written with admirers Mickey Guyton & Kacey Musgraves; a tweaked, co-written cover of an obscure Dolly Parton song (taking Ms. Parton up on her offer); and an earworm 2-writer country ballad in the vein of Nelly's "Over & Over Again"  after the Lil Nas X "Old Town Road" grief the country radio establishment caused.

This is the soundscape I'm thinking:

Bruno Mars - "Locked Out Of Heaven"

Bessie Griffin - "Old Time Moan"

Mofe. - "Top Shelf" (an afrobeat-country hybrid)

CeCe Winans -  "More" (the stripped-down beginning part before the beat kicks in)

Carrie Underwood - "Faster" / "End Up With You"

SZA - "Prom"

Nelly / Tim McGraw - "Over & Over Again"

Selena - "I Could Fall In Love" / "Si Una Vez"

Dolly Parton - "You're The Only One"

Tina Turner - "Something Beautiful"

Rosalia f. Travis Scott - "Maliamente"

The Eagles - "Hotel California"

Blanco Brown x T.I. - Trap Still Bumpin' (Beyonce has the same rap flow)

Don't know about you guys, but once tempos are mixed evenly, this looks like the foundations for the next multi-platinum Beyonce project.

True, but the thing is for Country it's easy to see how she'd make it work in a "Beyonce" / charting capacity.

Have always said a "Country" album would in reality be a "Southern" fusion...Daddy Lessons x No Angel x the edgy music from the IVP Rodeo ad.

By comparison, all of the above would do commercially better than her rockiest tracks (Don't Hurt Yourself, 6inch Heels). Tracks that wouldn't do much even when Lemonade came out.
