Internationally the film didn't do so well. People are probably not interested in the documentary side. If she releases this on streaming, she should offer two versions. One without the edits, just the full concert from beginning to end. I bet it would made huge numbers. In this case, Taylor was right to go full concert. The documentary is nice for her longtime fans but some people probably just want to see the performances.

she shouldn't sacrifice her art for the numbers

Agreed. However that is part of the problem with her not speaking or “promoting” for the last two years. She feels compelled to put it all in one. Imagine getting behind the scene information about her knee surgery, ballroom culture , and uncle Johnny prior or along with the album release? Similar to self titled YouTube clips.

Either way I still enjoyed it immensely and will watch again. I was initially annoyed before I saw the film because it was similar to homecoming but it was done so well. However, heated being interrupted OMG. Lol I went with two casual fans and they wanted less bts.

“Documentary is nice for her longtime fans” as if anyone else was watching. :michael:

Ugh, this BMS/ Israel mess is trickling into my feed now.

“@Beyoncé@Parkwood you need to explain this now”

”So is the liberation you preach just a cosplay or cash grab for you @Beyoncé?”

“Beyonce okay with her music being the Israeli genocide chant, can’t say I’m surprised”

What is this foolish propaganda? All stemming from a concert film? Like….🙄🙄🙄

#4 omg UK what’s good :biblio:

This is all King Charles’ fault. It’s bad vibes there with HIM. Top 2 on lock if Queenie Liz were on the throne still.

I dont think we can be surprised because people are into holidays, Christmas coming. They are probably not thinking of going to to see a concert film at the cinema on their list of things to do. These numbers are good for that period of the year. A decent $40M-50M is probably going to be the final gross of this movie.

Just bought tickets to go see this again tonight

We can all moan, groan, and complain about how she handles certain things during eras but this is us next era:

They should keep instigators from using the internet

Lets officially close the door on act i Bey please.

Time for act ii and lets leave uplifting poc and marginalized groups behind.  Bc the GP loves coming for ppl that do something but not everything (Bey) while supporting people that do nothing (all the other pop girls and guys).  Theres no reason one movie in Israel that barely made a monetary dent is being focused on more than the blockbusters.

Put the dream on ice and give us something fresh.

I think she should do a complete era without any political stuff and leave that behind for a while. People have come to expect the most from her because of the past eras being extremely vocal about stuff, it was inevitable. Another era where she only delivers hit songs and fun without any strong statements would be refreshing for me.  Another IASF where we get multiple hit songs with proper promotion would be great.

I'm scared that we wont see Bey anytime soon after this movie though. Maybe near the Superbowl because she is close to Usher and could attend to support him but i dont know about even Act II anymore.

I agree.  Just leave it behind.  Your audience is shrinking and the effort isnt being appreciated.  Hate watching her cripple her reach for peanuts.

If it must continue, give us The Gift type music. The cursing and vulgarities in Renee were blah. Formation was almost there without the Red Lobster bit.  Disneys rating really saved us.  I want classy Bey back, either way.

The promo for the international screenings are so weird, idk how it is in other countries but the german dates down here are a mess. I'm glad i live in a city that's actually showing the film for 2 weeks. There's only like less than 10 cities in the entire state that are showing the film, and some of them only had three screenings scheduled for the weekend (one everyday from friday to sunday). I don't get this marketing and why it was announced so late for some cinemas. Some friends are going to drive 2 hrs to visit me next weekend just to see this because the cinemas close to them only announced that they'll be showing the film a week ago (it wouldn't even have it programmed for more than a few days at that as well tho so they still couldn't have watched it next week). The staff at my theatre said the demand was big though so they're happy with their screenings, and i'm glad i'll be able to go see it again soon :deadbanana2:

meanwhile u know what had 3 screenings per day in multiple cinemas here and when i went to see it with friends it was so easy to schedule bc it was shown in every city with a bigger cinema between where i live and my friends, unlike this.

what a mess!

Yeah promo is a mess. There wasnt even a poster at my theater

On the bright side 3 more people came in late after DIL so it was a total of 12. A success for a third world country i guess

I disagree. T-Swift doesn't need to do a documentary because her songs are autobiographical, she's on social media, she released 2 documentaries in 2020, and her show is... let me be nice straightforward. She also doesn't have the "I have grown"/"matured"/"became a mother" angle. She filmed her shows in Los Angeles and called it a day. Huge returns for her very small investment.

Beyoncé has kept the RENAISSANCE era under wraps and she never addressed injury/surgery rumors, DC5 reunion etc. On top of that, general public needed the Uncle Johnny section and the ballroom section for added context, more than longtime fans. Her explaining the three-stage production and "stadiums don't have a roof so we have to build one" also got audible gasps from the crowd.

Switching this out for a straight up concert film would make it less interesting to the public (and millions of people who've attended the concert already). T-Swift played her cards right by releasing the concert movie after all her tickets were sold, but before most of the world had seen the show, including some cities in the US she'll be touring next year. Beyoncé can't offer that with no signs of a 2024 tour so far.

I just keep thinking back to the opulence section. It was sauuur good!

And the fact that my top 2 favorite outfits, Mugler and Demobaza (reflector suit), got the most airtime is so satisfying. :gaycat6:
