It would do fine in theaters for a limited single release week.  It'll be the cool thing to do, just as her tour was.  Lots will go, and dress up

 

What would be good is if she made it super kitschy, and it became a weirdo staple (think Rocky Horror)

Sadly, it's gonna be slightly inevitable. 

 

I long made peace with the fact that TS has middle America and the Becky's on-lock. It's a wider, more mass-appealing audience. They are saying her movie set to do 100mill in the US alone. 

 

I'm slightly shocked they are airing it internationally next month too as all her international show dates are next year. I guess since all her dates are sold out, they don't give af either way. Cha-ching. 

 

Bey will be fine going this route, though. 

 

The likely out-of-the-gate combo of US + international ticket sales will give her great gross regardless. And she'll almost certainly recoup her spend on the visuals with a tidy profit. 

 

If released at a smart window (e.g. holidays), it's the perfect vehicle to use to announce/promote another tour leg (if it exists) or simply end the era on a money-making high. 

 

Also, TS going up first will mean the rollout will be a well-oiled machine as they'll have their data on what works and what doesn't.
