i have been attempting to speak on my thoughts on the show for the last 30 minutes.

 

all i have to say is she is the greatest performer of all time, dead or alive, idc!!!!

 

and i only had two issues one of which was previously mentioned, she did sound pitched up during a few sections of the show but it was just the stadium cuz in the recordings she sounds fine, and at some point you could barely understand what was being said, but that was more specific to the DJ Khaled section so meh

Summer Renaissance is euphoria bottled up in a song but I wouldn't expect you miserable ******* to know anything about that

Some of this Summer Renaissance slander is giving "all my favorite songs come before it so it's automatically lesser".

 

It doesn't help that it's not one of the undeniable bangers that pack a punch and an urgency that demands attention. It's more of a smooth groove IMO. 

 

At the same time, I'm not sure how it's being pegged as meh when the definition of meh are getting a pass: Thique, I'm That Girl, and All Up In Your Mind. In the context of the album, I can just about stomach them (on the way to the songs that actually slap). But standalone? All SKIPS.

I have never gone up for ITG. It works in the context of the tour and I go up for select lines, but I remember being hella nervous for the rest of the album when first hitting play on Rennie. Its title and the expectations that brings just don't align with what it delivers sonically. It's a similar issue I have with Thique as well. It sounds so titillating on paper and makes one think something fire is incoming only for the actual track to end up mid.

 

In many regards, Ren begins at Cozy for me.

At the same time, surely that would be hella unprofessional? Especially since all the dates, from Global Citizen to the Rennie Houston show have been locked in for months. Global Ciitizen is a pretty serious cause too, so electing to skip it to shake a** with Bey isn't good optically lol. 

 

For that reason, choosing to see it as a coincidence. I'm more so expecting to see Meg pop up in the visuals.
