Green Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 I checked some songs of that Gaga remix album and the Rain on Me remix was really bad Let Them Know was cute
TheWayWeWere Posted December 24, 2021 Author Posted December 24, 2021 (edited) I'm gonna be wasted today, so double update TOP 50 ALBUMS 28 Anne-Marie | Therapy "I'm dysfunctional, it's always been that way" I know she's pretty much hated on ATRL, but girl can make some cute bops here and there, I loved her first album very much, but after bunch of messy singles she released last year, I didn't really expect anything from Therapy. Result is still pretty messy, like..songwriting is a bit questionable, some tracks felt like 'jumping to get quick hit' and some fillers, but she still has some taste, like even on this album she makes some of her best songs - like title song for example, or major bops. I really need her to go more alt brit pop route, but I feel like it's never happening tbh highlights: Therapy, x2, Unlovable, Better Not Together 27 Zara Larsson | Poster Girl "Someone call a life boat 'cause I'm drowning in your vibe" Another girl with whom I have such a love/hate relationship Like, I feel like she's been trying to find her sound/image like...forever since Lush Life release. This album was preceded with bunch of 'meh' singles (besides masterpiece Love Me Land) and even though album tried to avoid some of them (some good ones though ), it's still not perfect. Poster Girl was actually a great concept and her chance to create pop perfection flop record (Emotion teas), but in the end it's practially a bag of dance bops with no clear direction or sound. But, just as Anne-Marie she's capable of grabbing my attention by creating some really good europop jams. This album reaches some great highs, but the lows are all over here though, which really messed up the record. I just hope she just settles down and think about what she really want to record/sing, because this is not the tea sis, especially when some of the unreleased tracks from sessions are better than half of album tracks highlights: Poster Girl, Love Me Land, Need Someone, Right Here 26 Madison Beer | Life Support "Gettin' rid of you might be the best thing I ever did" She's clearly one of the most confusing artists ever I mean, she has the image of Ariana, sound of Charli/Ariana and she tries to be conceptual as Caroline Polachek And no, it's not a bad thing actually, because it's a killer combination, but I feel like she can't really find the good recipe for finish product. Life Support really tries to be many things at the same time, there's some concept behind it, there's pop and alternative bops, AC ballads, but in the end it feels like a bit of mixed bag. I love the variety of genres, vocal usage, great production, visuals and etc, but for a concept album it should've been a bit more cohesive. I think she's pretty talanted and ambitious, but she needs to choose her path in career, it would've helped her. PS: Still can't believe she left Dear Society out highlights: Good In Goodbye, Sour Times, Stay Numb And Carry On, Follow The White Rabbit 25 Agnes | Magic Still Exists "Keep believing that we'll stay forever young, keep believing that we've only just begun" Well, this is one of the bigges surprises of the year. Veritas was already pretty strong pop album, but only now, on Magic Still Exists, Agnes touched the heaven She overlooked disco trend a bit and made agressive disco pop record with strong 10s dance pop influence. This is amazing record at the end, sometimes over the top, explosive, catchy, free-minded and euphoric. I wish it was a little bit longer, she could've include Goodlife and some other vault tracks, but welp highlights: Love And Appreciation, XX, Fingers Crossed, Magic Still Exists TOP 150 SINGLES 73 No Rome, Charli XCX, The 1975 | Spinning "I look so good dressed in nothing" This is a bop! Charli is basically a queen of collabs this year, but this one is probably my favorite. I love her hyperpop/PC music sound and never get tired of it tbh. I kinda on board with them being a supergroup for a while 72 Dawn Richard | Mornin|Streetlights "If you love it then do it for the passion" This is actually my favorite song from album, even though I love her agressive bops and hard-pounding bangers, she opens up much more on deep cuts and smooth tracks like this one. I just love how she shows different sides of her persona/musicality on these two tracks, while 'Mornin' is a bit Sade-ish passionate anthem, while 'Streetlights' giving me major 'Armor On' EP vibes. And the transition between traditional soul and modern r&b is so organic and beautiful on this song. 71 Dawn Richard | Boomerang "I'll pick you every time I have to choose" This is a BANGER. Like, it's probably the poppiest song on the record, with inspirations from both disco and electronic dance music, but this is somehow next level sh!t, like.. she even does disco like on one else And Michael Jackson's inspired music video is great! 70 Lorde | Stoned at the Nail Salon "All the music you loved at 16 you'll grow out of" Welp, I expected a little bit different from this song basing on a title alone Instead of drug-iflicted bop we got this folk ballad with reflections of getting older and path of your life. Not my favorite cut from album, but I still liked it, I love emotions she brought through the song, I love structure and stripped sound of it, and some nuances - like that little pause after 'maybe I..' at the end of the song or dog mention, things like this makes this song so personal. 69 Marina | Purge the Poison "Britney shaved her head and all we did was call her crazed" Okay, this is probably the closest we got Marina to serve Family Jewels greatness It's angry, fun, sharp, cinical, theatrical and pretty catchy at the same time 68 P.J. Harding, Noah Cyrus | You Belong to Somebody Else "It's easier to let a heart wait than make a heart break for you" This is so heartbreaking and gorgeous. Amazing example of a great duet, their voices blend together so well, showing perfect chemistry and range of emotions. 67 Zara Larsson | Look What You've Done "Boy, I should thank you for who I've become" I'm still surprised this wasn't written/produced by Clean Bandit, this is basically Symphony sequel we're waited for years Cute banger, I bopped to it for few weeks, but get tired pretty fast, can't believe she wasted opportunity and never gave this song video. 66 MØ | Live to Survive "I live to survive another mistake" Karen sis made some points with the lead single from Motordrome First of all, this was produced by SG Lewis, which ends in such an reach and shiny sound of it, second of all, it's super catchy thank to reliable lyrics, third, THE SYNTHS 65 WILLOW, Travis Barker | t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l "All your little fake friends will sell your secrets for some cash" The lead single from 'lately I feel EVERYTHING' is the best showcase of Willow's talent, striking, energetic, harsh, brave pop punk anthem that drew inspirations from both 90s punk classics and 00s pop punk renaissance. It's raw and honest and can't leave you indifferent. 64 Marina | Man's World "You thought I was a witch centuries ago, now you just call me a bitch" You know, while Purge the Poison was a reference to Family Jewels sonically, this one feels like FROOT era once again, and I LOVE IT. It's so rich, warm, dreamy, and I love how 'tongue in cheek' lyrics are. 63 Billie Eilish | Your Power "You said you thought she was your age" I probably just have a sweet spot for folk ballads in me, because hits me hard at first. Very haunting, raw and powerful in terms of message about abuse/abusive relationships. It became old for me pretty fast though. 62 Dua Lipa, Angèle | Fever "I've got a fever, so can you check?" Collab I never knew I wanted in my life, you know, miss Dua can basically do everything She slayed last year with her disco effort, but now integrates into french pop with deep house influences. I don't really care about Angele girl, but I love how their voices interwine with each other, comparing to original solo version, this one sounds much reacher, seductive and steamy. 61 Kacey Musgraves | justified "Healin' doesn't happen in a straight line" This is such a nice divorce song, she's not accusing anyone, she's not blaming her husband, just admits all the mistakes they've done and tries to find the way to heal her heart and peace for her mind. Beautifully written and delivered by Kacey. 60 Marina | Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land "What's your purpose, why were you put on Earth?" Just as Purge the Poison title track from her latest album recalling her master debut, by using amount of live instruments and being inspired by glam-rock and pop-rock. Achilles. Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 Agnes! I’d never even heard of her before ATRL made that banner promoting her release and I’m glad they did because it’s a great album. Nice songs from Lorde, Willow, Kacey, Billie, and Marina, though I wouldn’t call any favorites of mine.

dreamofyou Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 this update is such a serve, so many great songs
Moonlightbae Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 that's a great update! Poster Girl, Life Support and Magic Still Exists are all incredible albums that I enjoyed this year Therapy was cute but a downgrade from SYM also a lot of great songs, Live To Survive is very underrated from what I can tell btw a video was shot for Look What You've Done but she didn't like how it ended up so it's scrapped
KasioKas Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 look what you've done Fever Disagree re: life support, it's glued together by lyrics and emotion, not necessarily sound, and it works imo

potent Posted December 25, 2021 Posted December 25, 2021 SATNS is cute, but probably one of my least favorite from SP Your Power and Fever Don't know the albums, but Love Me Land was cute I guess
Remmy Posted December 25, 2021 Posted December 25, 2021 Dawn of Chromatica was better than expected and pretty cute! It was a good idea for BloodPop Gaga to grab a bunch of (mostly) experimental artists to help out. Both Zara albums are very similar in the way that they have several INCREDIBLE highlights as well as 2 or 3 tracks that could've been scrapped/replaced. || Unpopular opinion but I prefer the original CHARGER, not a fan of those autotune harmonies. Also prefer the OG Gasoline Esther + Start Walking ayyy Tove S had me worried with that other song, then SW brought me back in. Was super hyped for MO's return... then Live to Survive didn't give me what I wanted Stoned at the Nail Salon Look What You've Done wooo my Poster Girl fave #62+61 are fine, could've been stronger. I'd say the same for Your Power but that grew on me after a while
TheWayWeWere Posted December 26, 2021 Author Posted December 26, 2021 TOP 50 ALBUMS 24 Natalie Imbruglia | Firebird "Can you deal with all the pieces of me that you never see?" It's almost unbelievable it's her first original music in 12 years I used to stan Natalie hard in 00s, so seeing her coming back once again is amazing! Firebird is great mix of both 90s/early 00s nostalgia with folk-pop sound of 2020s. It's carefree, full of happiness, rebirth, brightness, sentimental chill. It starts with string of hits, but kinda messed in the second part, but I still love it. I think she reminds me of Kylie, just being herself, being good and unproblematic, not hopping on trends, and that's why I love her so much. Great record. I would've loved more rock phase, but I'm okay with contemporary pop. highlights: Nothing Missing, What It Feels Like, Not Sorry, Dive to the Deep 23 Kacey Musgraves | star-crossed "Chronological order and nothing but torture" Yep, we can talk forever about how it's not as good as Golden Hour, but let's say some nice things about that album. 1) Variety - album covers many genres on a record, finding a place for country, a bit alternative, latin inspired ballads, or pure pop; 2) Lyrics - Kacey just proves how great she is as a songwriter, her lyrics are raw, honest, emotional, very personal, you can actually feel her through the words; 3) divorce - I think this is the main reason why album feels a bit disjointed, I think variety of emotions, her heartbreak and struggle are pretty much reflects on album's cohesiveness; 4) visuals - yeah, movies was a bit...confusing? Idk what to say more, BUT it looks so satisfying visually. highlights: breadwinner, camera roll, good wife, there is a light 22 Olivia Rodrigo | SOUR "I'm so insecure, I think, that I'll die before I drink" I was pretty surprised how much I liked the debut of viral disney star I rarely got even interested in things like that, but Olivia really got me interested with a string of perfect 3 singles. Album is pretty much strong too, complimenting both catchy pop hooks, early 00s punk, acoustic ballads and her honest, raw lyricism. Some of the ballads kinda slow down album rhythm few times, which I find a bit eering, but energy-driven songs with rock influence makes up for it. highlights: jealousy jealousy, brutal, happier 21 Taylor Swift | Fearless (Taylor's Version) "Don't you say you've missed me if you don't want me again" Since I started to love/listen Taylor during Red era, Fearless TV was basically new album to me Of course, I remember the hits from this album, and I listened it couple times, but it never got me interested. I'm kinda surprised how she sounds basically the same as herself 13 years ago I think I would've loved some reimagination of some tracks, but welp, that's not her points, and I kinda love how she keeps the record's innocence, romantic, a bit naive. But of course, for me the highlights of the album are the vault tracks. I think she experiments most in them, they sound so fresh and current, even though they were written 13 years ago too. highlights: Don't You, You All Over Me, That's When, Bye Bye Baby TOP 150 SINGLES 59 Lana Del Rey | Text Book "Do you think if I go blonde, we could get our old love back?" This is such a grower, I kinda stopped listen to this song a week or two after release, but it kinda hits me so hard as an opener for Blue Banisters. Idk, it kinda reminds me of her early demos/BTD days, which is when I started to listen to her, so it's a bit nostalgic musically to me 58 Lana Del Rey | Let Me Love You Like a Woman "We could get high on some pink champagne" This is a bit late, but I basically ignored this song last year, so let her shine now Another grower from Lana, I barely listened to it when it was released, but her magical live performance on Fallon just gave the chills It's just so beautiful, comforting, hypnotic a bit, and that guitar! Sounds a bit NFR-ish, but I love it. 57 Billie Eilish | Lost Cause "Thought you had your shit together, but damn, I was wrong" Okay, this was sold to me by a music video It's just so visually beautiful and some kinda hot, so I listened this a lot for few weeks. Track itself is cute bop with some playful inspirations from 90s r&b, it's breazy and melancholic at the same time. Still, probably the weakest of the HTE singles. 56 Chlöe | Have Mercy "You can't get this thickness out of your mind" Well, this is one big booty-anthem It's full time banger, both fun, angry, hypnotizing, confident, hot! I love how she still serves vocal delivery even on such a easy hot bop. 55 Aly & AJ | Pretty Places "All the pretty places pull us away from where the pain is" I loved Aly & AJ pop-electronic breakdown couple years ago, but they finally got me with their new pop-folk sound. Pretty Places sounds like it's pull up right from 60s-70s, but with modern touch. It's dreamy, hopeful, carefree. It's your perfect soundtrack to listen in a car during a long trip. 54 Tinashe, Buddy | Pasadena "Some say I'm psycho but this shit here go in cycles" I know now everyone stanned Bouncin more, but I find himself listening to this carefree breazy anthem during all the summer. It's infectious, catchy, you can't really sit without shaking your leg or ass during this song. 53 Foxes | Sister Ray "You know I've been dying to live like this" This is.. perfect? It's like Dancing on My Own reincarnation in 2021 After string of good/okay singles this is like breath of fresh air. Pop at its best! 52 Olivia Rodrigo | good 4 u "You will never have to hurt the way you know that I do" I LOVE artists who can surprise you, and Olivia did that - the fact that her first 3 singles are all in different genres is amazing. Good 4 U is her ode to 90s punk/rock, which resurrected this year. As a fan of Hole, Garbage, Alanis it feels like a light throwback to that era. It hits you hard! I kinda get tired of it fastly, but listening to it now - it aged like a fine wine tbh. PS: can we also appreciate the amazing music video! 51 Aly & AJ | Don't Need Nothing "Don't lose your pace, don't fall behind" That guitar riff! That title line! That drum beat! Ugh, this song just goes into your bloodline and gets stuck into your head! One of the most catchy songs on the record and such a breath of fresh air! 50 Noah Cyrus | All Three "We're suckers for the thrill playing fuck, marry, and kill" Bitch really came through with her folk ballads It's so haunting, emotinal and relatable, really love the lyrics. 49 Halsey | You Asked for This "Now what the fuck does all this mean?" Of course we all wanted Honey to be a single, but I still loved You asked for this. Inspired by grunge this sweet and sour banger return Rockey to her dreams and wishes, it's a bit sad song, but angry delivery made this even better. Drumbeat is unescapable! 48 Jazmine Sullivan | Pick Up Your Feelings "I'm tryna find a fuck to give for you" The fact that Jazmine creates such an r&b classic already It's pure r&b, fullfiling with emotions, anger, straight-to-the-face and honest. She take inspirations from the best of 90s r&b and creates this magic 47 Elton John, Dua Lipa | Cold Heart (Pnau Remix) "I'm not the man they think I am at home" It's still a bit strange to see Elton out of all legends getting 3 #1 this year BUT thanks to PNAU (who also responsible for amazing remix album of Elton songs, Good Morning to the Night) we got this perfect disco jam! First of all, it's perfectly produced, the fact that you hardly can say this is fucking mashup!! Beat is infectious, rhythm is catchy, it's perfect foundation for a collab like this. Dua is so on point on this 46 Jazmine Sullivan, H.E.R. | Girl Like Me "Why in the hell you ain't choose me?" I need to say that I listened HER album, but hardly came through this, I can't deny that she's talented, but her music never hits me, unlike her collabs or songwriting efforts, where she shines. Like, on this heartbreaking r&b-guitar lead ballad, it's heartbreaking song about aftermath of a breakup and finding love to herself, I just love how their voices blend together, how HER acoustic riff hit all your nerves through the lenght of this song. I'd say the same for Your Power but that grew on me after a while On 12/25/2021 at 11:15 AM, potent said: SATNS is cute, but probably one of my least favorite from SP Your Power and Fever Don't know the albums, but Love Me Land was cute I guess On 12/25/2021 at 10:08 AM, Lazuli said: spinning is a cute but basic bop! nn you're right about stoned, i thought it would be a lot different look what you done one of poster girl's only good songs your power, fever, justified On 12/25/2021 at 6:26 AM, Legend E said: Stoned, YP, Justified On 12/25/2021 at 2:00 AM, Reverse Warholian said: Sans WILLOW, this update was not for me Reveal hidden contents Do better On 12/25/2021 at 1:53 AM, Mr. Loco said: fever is really another Dua bop, we love ha On 12/25/2021 at 1:19 AM, gagacasanova said: Fever, Ancient Dreams..., Justified On 12/24/2021 at 10:09 PM, Sunderland 4ever said: I had this one on replay so many times. Poster Girl, Life Support and Magic Still Exists are all incredible albums that I enjoyed this year Therapy was cute but a downgrade from SYM also a lot of great songs, Live To Survive is very underrated from what I can tell btw a video was shot for Look What You've Done but she didn't like how it ended up so it's scrapped this bitch, I can't On 12/24/2021 at 3:24 PM, dreamofyou said: this update is such a serve, so many great songs On 12/24/2021 at 3:23 PM, Sempiternal said: Fever & Transparent soul On 12/24/2021 at 1:02 PM, Born to Run said: On 12/24/2021 at 12:44 PM, JGibson said: justified + t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l + Your Power On 12/24/2021 at 9:17 AM, Brandon said: ????? & ???????? I’d never even heard of her before ATRL made that banner promoting her release and I’m glad they did because it’s a great album. Nice songs from Lorde, Willow, Kacey, Billie, and Marina, though I wouldn’t call any favorites of mine. I didn’t like the Anne album, but Breathin was very cute Reveal hidden contents Hated the Madison album a bore I fear
dreamofyou Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 so many great album and songs entries here taste
JGibson Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 Cold Heart + good 4 u + You asked for this + Pretty Places + Lost Cause + Let Me Love You Like A Woman
bestfiction Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 I never touched the Anne-Marie, Madison and Zara albums tbh but it's kinda unfortunate with Zara, I really loved Don't Worry Bout Me and All The Time but she payed them dust and I kinda lost interested in Poster Girl as a result. The way Dua just stole her thunder in the end The Mexican Bjork shade is NOT appreciated The Sia album... I haven't listened to it but Instragram ads spammed Hey Boy to me and... it wasn't good and the whole ableism controversy is just Dawn of Chromatica is finally a huge step up in the right direction Probably gonna save some songs off the Agnes album to catch up with her I hope Вот Она Я by the Queen of R-Pop Olga is making it to the top I hope that the Garbage singles are forshadowing a cute placement for their album
