US Spotify: Wild Side #32, 621k streams

Welp. Looks like Normani is really not happening. If this song, with that amazing music video, and features Cardi, is not doing anything, I don’t know what else she can do for a hit. :dies: It’s really weird how her social media hype don’t reflect to actual streams. :dies:

Lol at the Barbz here getting brave. You all acting like Cardi didn’t debut a solo song at #2 on the H100 just couple of months ago. :dies:

Omg yas a throwback :clap3: He Like That the hit that got away :eli:

The issue is that the GP don't know who Normani is. They probably saw that Cardi had a new song and that was it.

Fifth Harmony was not a huge deal even back then. Their only big hits were Worth It and Work From Home and they catered too particularly to teens with that type of music. When the group disbanded, Normani should have got to work immediately and gain a fanbase that would genuinely support her music throughout the years in preparation for her debut album. It's rare to come swinging out the gate and have it stick.

Ngl if I was normani I would probably believe my own hype as well, getting almost a milli on her ig photos, 100k+ on her Twitter photos, trending every time she teases something. And it’s crazy that last night everybody was talking about this and now the next day it’s only really her fans talking about it. I think she’s gonna need TikTok

Social media hype alone does not translate to streams and never has :dies:

I have faves signed to indie labels who go viral literally every week on social media, but I know outside of the small and dedicated fanbases that they’ve built over the years, the people liking and retweeting aren’t checking for the music. Liking something of someone dancing/performing or looking hot in a photoshoot only takes 2 seconds :toofunny2: Going out of your way to find the music is something else entirely

A bomb! :sadviolin: Normani stans need to admit that the numbers are abysmal instead of making stupid excuses. :bibliahh:

Very boring song

Add Pop Emergency on the Thread Title to compliment the huge ass atrl banner. :eli:

Now Normani, her label and fans will say this was a buzz a single too.

Debut again.

Exactly. Like a lot of the people posting and hyping up these artists only do it for clicks and views, they are NOT streaming or buying the music

I wonder why they give her a high budget video and a huge collaboration but don't push It on spotify biggest playlist.

Her team need to be on this job with this song. It's still early days, but if they want this to be a hit, they will have to promote it.

While the song is fine, it's not lead single material and it screams local hit too. Her musical identity as an artist was mentioned upthread and it's true how she lacks one.

She has no brand or idea of what she's trying to present.

Not surprised at all. Even tho I love the song it’s an album track not single material.

especially first single ? hopefully it grows on the GP

I think it was a bit silly to waste the Cardi-feature card on a slowish track. This should’ve either been more of a banger if they insisted on cardi being there, or just solo.

She set herself up. If you have to say that you’re making something iconic then that’s not what you’re delivering.

Honestly she’s like a Tinashe. Great dancer but zero charisma as a star. But at least Tinashe had some good tracks (2 On, All Hands On Deck, All My Friends). Normani doesn’t bring anything new to the table musically and her voice is one note so she’s limited. Tired of the “new Beyoncé” narrative too, how about be YOURSELF. Twitter likes don’t matter as we can see.

Wow. The posts in the Normani single thread made it sound like she was the new Olivia. I believe one user even said “radio will eat this up and girls years from now will be copying her style.” :rip:

awwwww Cardi

Cardi just made history this year with her SOLO #1 song and has the TOP selling RAP song of the year so....

This is not good. Would've been decent if it was a solo song, but it has Cardi on it and barely outdoing Motivation...

I liked the song and i truly root for Normani but things are going exactly the way i predicted a few days ago. She wasted her hype by doing nothing and even having an A-list rapper and a high budget MV weren't enough to snatch an certified hit from the get go. Twitter likes aren't real life.

I don't think things are completely lost though. Maybe if it becomes an TikTok challenge or else it can help soon. Orrr she should just drop a pop trap song with a simple choreo for the sake of having a quick hit. She just shouldn't disappear again.

Then this collab should have gotten more listeners. No?

Cardi can only do so much, Normani's team didn't even the right search words on YouTube until Cardi called them out on Twitter. :skull:
