In Sales and Streaming you can guess who actually bother to search for a song, or click on them, or play a streaming list and don't skip songs. In Airplay you don't even know if someone was actually listening, what if everyone in the world was actually turning off their radio everytime Dark Horse was playing? Yet radio said millions were listening? Radio is NOT a factor to track the hottest songs out there. If they decide to play Million Reasons non-stop they will do it and increase its chart position when actually nobody checks for it. That's an insane hypothetical. You have to realize that most people like most songs being played on pop radio. You can look at the callout reports and realize that. The industry isn't very transparent, but I'm sure that they are very confident in the research that they perform and that they can estimate with accuracy how many people are listening at any given time. The bottom line is that 90% of the population listens to radio at least once a week, and Nielsen found that it is the most popular method of discovering new music. Removing it from the formula because audience numbers aren't EXACTLY correct would make the Hot 100 so much less accurate. Dozens of millions of people consume music through radio and to discount all of that consumption is absurd.

Except for Country radio, but we've already talked about that lol.

rowlet Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 what is the record for most weeks in the top 10? could Closer beat it?
MusicLoverDude Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Julia Michaels debuts at #87 Lauren Alaina debuts at #86 And Hey Violet comes in at #84

I think after the Grammys are behind us, Paris will pick off Closer's momentum and finally take the role of the duo's leading song.

Look at the Maroon 5 and Alessia or whoever songs - where would they be without radio right now? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this band/artist and many like them only have chart success due to airplay, as they have relatively/very low sales/streaming, indicating people have no desire to listen to by free-will/buy either song.
QueenofCopyPaste Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Radio will continue to stay and yall WILL CONTINUE TO SEETHE

Maybe top 20 if radio pushes it a bit more. Top 10 seems super unlikely.
