Washing Machine Heart :jonny: although my fave non-single pick would be A Pearl it's still top 5

Science is the best SS track that I bothered listening to, she's a catchy girl

My pick from Sweetener would be Everytime, but both of the singles are honestly amazing so there's not much difference in quality. I can't believe there are people who stan any Pharrell track that isn't R.E.M so I'm glad you served taste with that comment

serpent and Lana :heart2:

That String Theory track is great I'm here for it~

Work It, Stir Fry, Powerglide, yes, we love big bops, as the kids say :clap3: Jessie said her new album is gonna be inspired by dance music, thank god for that, because Overtime is amazing and so is her early stuff. Rosebud, WMH, I Shall love 2, Venice Chick, that Peggy track, ntltc, bless ur heart and Dead to Me :alexz:

1539 :clap3: all of Peggy's singles were really solid, I struggled to reduce it to just two

ntltc  didn't think it'd be this high but a nice surprise

Rosebud is quite possibly Kylie's best single ever

Venice Bitch :smitten: one of my favourite Lana songs for sure. Lowkey MAC has more replay value for me but I love both about equally

Dead to Me is a great Kali choice

I Shall Love 2 :jonny: Julia really did what she had to do

Washing machine Heart is a solid Mitski choice. Prefer it as a closer to what we actually got tbh :fan:

Rosebud and Dead To Me are some of my faves from their respective albums, I Shall Love 2 is also but I have so many from Aviary that it would still be below quite a few others, NTLTC is surprisingly high but it deserves it, I like most of the other songs here too.

k-pop song of the year. Wonder Girls always win in the end. I must be an 80s man at heart cuz the retro sound aesthetic just appeals heavily to me in many scenarios. It goes so well with the video, which is probably why this song is this high.

I was kinda late on her but she has made her mark this year. Malamente is the beginning of the story that the album tells throughout, which is why now I see why it's separated into chapters. The hand clapping gives it a memorable feature and the menacing electronic beat throughout gives it an intense feeling that something wary is about to happen.

Paak has proven himself to be a worthy staple of modern neo-soul from his debut album alone, but he also has rapping capabilities too, as proven with Bubblin. Maybe this song was too good for Oxnard.

The beginning dance-floor fashion and synth-funk grooves provides a banging highlight in the 2nd half of Little Dark Age. Thematically, this song deals with having more to life and outlasting death and painful feelings by seeking an urge to do meaningful things.

The title track best represents the cover and ghostly atmosphere they were going for. I appreciate cudi's humming sometimes but i'm glad that's on a minimum here, instead he touches on being unstoppable from doing what he wants in his career.  The shining characters here are Ye and Yasiin's stealthy chorus.

This brings me back to summer of 2010 when I used to be obsessed with Chillwave. The sound design this provides brings on much positive nostalgic feelings for me with the sax sounds, nods to early 90s baggy/madchester, and traces of vaporwave from his side prodject. I easily find myself singing "If you don't hurt me I won't hurt you back" as i'm easily like that as well.

Barely anyone talks about this in detail but the closing song of his album gave me the most lasting impression. I love the intensity of the clashing walls of noise as it advances onward, and I also tend to love when artists goes all out in a vigorous fashion.

I didn't think a Calvin/Dua Lipa song would end up here but it's been a consistent, clean and catchy house influenced song from the beginning. Yes it's top 10 material and what about it? Song of the summer for me.

This takes the term 'deconstruction' to a whole nother level. I've seen remarks about it being "messy" or "clunky" but that's what makes it stand out to me. This combines all the sounds from the previous tracks into one huge global collaboration.

Techno song of the year and proof that repetition is both a staple in music and can be necessary. There's multiple stages of this song; the first half being upper pitched, with an sleek drum & bass interlude to transition into the second stage as it descends into a lower and deeper beat groove. It never fails to put me in a mesmerizing trance from the start.

The beginning of the Wyoming sessions. It's important to impress listeners from the start as that can last throughout the session.  If You Know You Know is a flashy opener that can appeal to multiple demographics through its references, the bouncy sister nancy bam-bam'd type production, and the confidence through Pusha's delivery. It works both as a hype song and a statement that he's really about that life.

I didn't expect a Playboi carti song to be my favorite of the year but as time went on, this song just started speaking to me. His music has some power of sounding better with age. Each time I play it I just wanna go back and play it all day. This beat on this song is majestic, magnificent, and hypnotic along the accompanying adlibs. Florida producers have been blessing the industry! It's just fascinating how a song so simply structured and repetitive can have a huge impact on me. Skepta also provides what I think to be his best guest verse, as his flow strangely fits here like a golden glove. Plus any addition of cultural references such as Nickelodeon and GTA(!) gets extra praise from me.  This is carefree and minimal hip hop at its finest.

i also followed the trend and posted everything at once (the singles) because this is way too taxing.....

anyway i am extremely pleased to see the fall appear on another list, especially since we both posted at like, the same time

bubblin, one thing left to try, blue rose, kids see ghosts, peanut(!!!), livin loose, lioness, one kiss, whole new world, lemon glow, focus, if you know you know are all some of the best songs all year for sure, excellent choices

lean 4 real is an interesting #1 choice but it is a good one, im glad you chose it

(malamente and honey might be some of my least faves on their respective albums but they are still good songs overall imo)

GREAT top 20.  Lady really is one of the best Kpop songs this year.  Who woulda thought "na na na na na, na na na LADY" would be such a great hook.

Lean 4 Real is my second favorite on Playboi Carti's album, though as a whole it lacks standouts and is more about the feeling of the album.

Great Charli and sophie choices.  Pop 2 aside, Focus is the best this year.

stop @theblackestday gonna think he has impact ??

love this top 20, a really fun collection of different styles, most of these are my top or at least runner-up picks from these artists too, i'm glad whole new world got so high in particular, it absolutely knocks but is largely overlooked. the playboi carti song is an unexpected #1, i think i'd need more listens to fully get it, and charli so high is a pleasant surprise too

Kids See Ghosts is alright. Honey + One Kiss :jamming: These two are good, though they needed to grow on me and I still don't love either of them. Focus :fish1: A great one from Charli, but honestly I'd say it only outsold is 5ITM (which is very easy to do.)

Focus really is THAT song, appealing to gays, straights, gals and everyone in-between whew

SOPHIE top 10, and with a controversial pick? Here for it

Soooooo many great choices! And there's far too many to list. My fave would have to be PROM/KING (glad there's someone else giving Saba some shine :eli:)

Definitely some interesting choices. Wasn't really a fan of Playboi Carti's album, then again I only listened to it once so I could always give it another spin. And I'm pretty surprised at One Kiss in your top 10
