There was a poll hosted on the Discord server and while it was close, most people felt it should continue on ATRL and so continue on ATRL it shall. Due to the countless 503 errors, I won't be able to tag or format posts, so please keep a close eye on the thread. Otherwise, feel free to join us on the Discord server; instant updates, no delays, and plenty of fun things to do and people to chat with. You can be as active or as inactive as you wish, and will receive notifications whenever key moments such as new challenges or results are posted here in the thread. Note we are strongly recommending all current and future Platinum Hit members join the Discord! Results for Episode 2 were already posted on the Discord, but I will now post them here as well. All y'all need to complete the mood is a room full of people snapping their fingers. If this is the type of material this competition is looking for you need the change the title to Platinum Poem instead of Platinum Hit.

I just tried imagine either entry being used with music...and would a record label pick up this material and use it for an artist to record a song. I tried and tried, and can't see any label using either entry...perhaps you could strum a guitar to it, but that's about it. Galah Posted May 13, 2018 Author Posted May 13, 2018 Episode 3: "Into Running Away With You" Despite having leaked a while ago due to a communications malfunction at the South American branch, demo songwriters will be expected to write a song inspired by the fan-favourites, specifically your "most polished, trendy pop song inspired by the fan favourites in hopes to make it onto a blockbuster album." What is considered a fan-favourite may be ambiguous to some, so our social media bloggers have put together a sample playlist of songs we feel fit this brief. These are just a handful of potential songs to point you in the right direction, but is in no way a definitive list. Upon listening to the playlist you will see there is no specific genre or style of music predominately featured; there's dance-pop, there's ballads, there's 90's house, there's pop-rock etc. This challenge is very open-ended and is entirely up to you where you take it stylistically, thematically and most of all, lyrically. What we do want: ✅ Songs inspired by a commonly well-received song in some way (can be as tangential as you wish). ✅ Really tight, well-crafted pop verses with no irregularities in flow and meter. ✅ A memorable chorus/hook with at least one unique/standout lyric. ✅ Conceptual risks that make fresh, interesting subject matters relatable. ✅ A sense of commercial viability that would make your song a potential radio single candidate. What we don't want: ❎ Generic, overused themes and basic concepts without any originality or identity. ❎ Filler lyrics such as "ooh" and "baby, baby" etc. (In moderation, this can be okay.) ❎ Exact replicas, rewrites or direct derivatives of the fan-favourites. ❎ Overly poetic lyricism (like we may typically praise in other PH challenges). ❎ Highly unconventional song structures that inhibit potential for a radio single release. Star Challenges ✪ Write a song which shares its title with a well-known fan-favourite song, but isn't its derivative. ✪ Keep your song under 330 words. (Inspired by the belief that radio-friendly pop songs must be around 3:30 minutes in length.) Essentially, this challenge is all about finding the perfect balance between too radio friendly and not radio friendly enough. This challenge is deceptively difficult. If you think it's too generic when writing it, chances are so will the judges. If you genuinely don't see how your song could get radio airplay unless it was on some obscure indie station with less than 100 total listeners, neither will the judges.
