Something tells me Blinding Lights will be #1 on Sunday and Adore You will take over the week after and serve longevity.
UnusualBoy Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 BL & AY huge increases Can't complain tho, they're both among my fave songs from last year.
FAN Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 So how do we think the next month is going to go? The Weeknd one week at #1, Harry serving longevity until Camila takes over or will Billie pull a surprise bitch or Doja come in for the block?
Kots Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Adore You is a very interesting song, hope it gets to #1
Medonerpls Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Love that the top 10 is not being stagnant no more
VictorJustino Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 @Ger-55 do you have any idea when we are going to get the call outs for "I Love Me" and also, do you think this is going to top10?

Probably in a week or two (more likely two). I have mixed feelings about it, not quite sure, but I have a feeling it's not being well received. It's such a weired, has potential but the chorus is kinda... disappointing.

Ger Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Camila just got on Power on KIIS, so the two biggest Pop stations have it on Power, maybe she's coming for another #1 Pop hit.

Pop Art Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 I wonder if Nielsen and/or Mediabase are gonna adjust audience impression numbers because of the pandemic and all the shutdowns it's caused...radio listenership HAS to be down like streams are (probably even more I'd think) but that really hasn't been reflected yet, meaning radio suddenly has a bigger influence on the Hot 100 as its numbers haven't taken the hit that streaming has.

I don't understand this logic. Just because streaming is down doesn't mean radio has more influence now... it just means all songs are getting less chart points because they have less streams. If radio was readjusted, songs would get less radio chart points, but all songs would so it would be an equal drop for everyone. In other words, it wouldn't change anything.

If radio was readjusted, songs would get less radio chart points, but all songs would so it would be an equal drop for everyone. In other words, it wouldn't change anything. It's not that radio's influence is increasing per se, but that the decrease in impact of streaming has increased the power of radio at the moment if that makes sense. Let's look at the below example. Sales are being ignored to make it easier. Since I don't know how Billboard actually calculates these things, let's assume 1M streams = 1 point and 1M AI also equals 1 point. (I know it's not even close to that, just using it for ease of showing the point.) Normal Circumstances Song A: 45M streams (45 points) + 37M AI (37 points) = 82 points Song B: 25M steams (25 points) + 56M AI (56 points) = 81 points Song C: 10M streams (10 points) + 70M AI (70 points) = 80 points Here it's clear that Song A would be #1, Song B would be #2, and Song 3 would be #3. But if we then reduce the amount of streams as we're seeing now (let's say a 10% drop in streams across the board to make it simple) yet keep the same radio AI since that hasn't been affected yet... Pandemic Circumstances Song A: 40.5M streams (40.5 points) + 37M AI (37 points) = 77.5 points Song B: 22.5M streams (22.5 points) + 56M AI (56 points) = 78.5 points Song C: 9M streams (9 points) + 70M AI (70 points) = 79 points As you can see, a whole different ranking is established. Again, this is incredibly simplified and I know it won't exactly result in these sweeping changes in reality, but I think it's clear each radio spin is more powerful on the Hot 100 right now than it was just two weeks ago. I agree with you though that readjusting radio AI to also be lower across the board would just bring everything back to normal, that's why I was wondering if/when they'll do that.
