Get Like is such a bop, there's a few selections from the album but a lot of filler. You're the only one I know that would dare put JMSN on their lists lol Are we expecting Majid this year? You better get into Jorja!!! I'm not too surprised JMSN hasn't been seen on many lists. Whatever Makes U Happy was a bit of a downgrade from It is. even though it's a bit more consistent. And bih, you just might I'm going to need a whole album from Ms. Smith A$AP

Pink Matter Posted December 25, 2017 Author Posted December 25, 2017 Top 100 Singles Singles 60-51 60) Jhené Aiko|Psilocybin (Love In Full Effect) (feat. Dr. Chill) The problem with songs that are long is that they usually drag on for too long, feel like a chore to listen to, and ultimately feel like they should've been cut down in size. Thankfully, on this track, Jhené makes sure to keep our attention all the way through. On this 7-minute long trip, Jhene sings about, well... being on psilocybin, a mind-altering psychedelic drug. The outro, with assistance from her father, helps to switch up the pace of the song, making sure it never gets boring. 59) Oxbow|Cold & Well-Lit Place One of my favorite songs in terms of instrumentation. I just lose myself in it every time I hit play. You can barely understand what the lead singer is saying, which I suppose adds to the raw and frenzied nature of the instrumentals. 58) Benjamin Clementine|Phantom of Aleppoville Easily the most dynamic song I've listened to all year. There's so many different instruments being used that it feels like I'm listening to orchestra playing. It's hard to describe. In the span of 3 minutes (out of 6 and a half minutes at that), the tempo changes from mid, to fast, to slow all while managing to incorporate a myriad of instruments and sounds that I'm not too familiar with in the slightest. And some how, Benjamin manages to make it work, putting together an all around gorgeous song. 57) Kali Uchis|Tyrant (feat. Jorja Smith) One of my favorite jams this year, Tyrant is the lead single for Kali's upcoming debut album. Tyrant is about Kali and her lover using the love they have for each other to blind themselves to what's happening in the world. When I first heard this, I was initially disappointed because I didn't like it as much as I did her past material. But with every listen, I'm kept getting more and more hooked! Doesn't hurt this chill bop was great for playing all summer long and features the wonderful Jorja Smith too. 56) Mura Masa|1 Night (feat. Charli XCX) Another bop on my list, 1 Night is the collaboration between dance/electronic producer Mura Masa and indie pop dahling Charli XCX. Not much to say here but this is one of my favorite pop gems released this year. An infectious earworm with great pop sensibilities and both of them delivered 55) Fyfe|Belong (feat. Kimbra) I was heavily anticipating this ever since I heard Fyfe's Stronger EP last year. And I'm glad to say he came through. With assistance from Kimbra, Belong is an indie pop song with slight synth elements about two individuals who want to find a place where they belong because they are tired of not knowing and understanding who they are on the inside. 54) Why?|George Washington This song is probably the hardest song to describe on my list thus far. It's certainly one of the more interesting songs I've listened to though. A very bluesy indie rock tune, George Washington is a song where the singer talks about pushing through the problems they are facing. 53) Migos|What The Price One of the best knocks I've heard all year. So smooth and I love the guitar riffs used throughout all of the instrumentals. 52) Bruno Mars|That's What I Like Say what you want about Bruno, but he did that! I feel with each new album, Bruno continues to find the style that suits him the most/makes him the most comfortable and with That's What I Like, he's at his best and most comfortable. The song is catchy, has a great beat, has lush production, and has one of his best vocal performances ever. One of the best hits of the year. 51) Tennis|In The Morning I'll Be Better For our last track, we have the sprightly intro to duo Tennis' album, Yours Conditionally. Sprinkled with '70s pop/rock charm, the lead vocalist Alaina sings about the love she has for her partner. A great song to vibe to and one that's oddly relaxing. Getting some Natalie Prass vibes from them.
Zay Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Phantom of Aleppoville, Tyrant, and That's What I Like 1 Night was cute
