Right! I remember she gave an interview where it was pretty obvious the album was done and ready. I hate how labels hold music hostage for smashes. In the streaming era, I think it’s best to just drop projects and let the audience pick their favorites. And if the album underperforms, they can quickly record something else after to start fresh. I personally believe if the GP isn’t feeling a project, it will NEVER click with them no matter how long it’s delayed. Might as well drop it though. In this day and age, tik tok can make underappreciated albums in the present more popularly appreciated later on. The long term investment potential of music now is greater.

It's astonishing how easily people eat up these press releases, when their entire point is to make people/companies look good. We know she's been working on music since at least June/July last year, that she intentionally chose to keep private, so there's no way she has decided to start heavily teasing for an album that is in the beginning stages or isn't coming until next year. Plus she's obviously trying to drive up her engagement for something (and I don't buy it's "damage control" because she has been doing it for weeks now).
