MusicLoverDude Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) MLD's Top 100 of 2017 100 - 91 100. Zayn & Taylor Swift - I Don't Wanna Live Forever Starting things off with this duet from Fifty Shades Darker. This song was always ok at best. Got into for a slight while but then it got old quickly, especially with Zayn's falsetto. Taylor's parts were always the best part of this song. That being said, the dark nature of this song fitted with the movie and looking back, this was a clue to how dark Reputation would be. Only appearance by Zayn. First of seven by Taylor Swift 99. Harry Styles - Sign of the Times From one member of 1D to another, we go to a member who has made better music the former. Harry's solo work definitely has more artistry to it and this song showcases that. The only thing that brings this song down is the length of the song. The last 2 minutes tho >>>>>>>> One of two appearances by Harry Styles 98. Julia Michaels - Uh Huh So fun fact, it appears Julia moved to my hometown of Santa Clarita, California when she was a kid. And with her success of Issues, that means she is the most successful singer to come from here. Issues was a very unique song. Uh Huh was cute, but definitely not as unique. And that could explain why this never took off. But I mean, she's a songwriter so she's still fine either way. And she hasn't released a full album yet so we just have to wait and see with her. First of three appearances by Julia Michaels. 97. Hailee Steinfeld - Most Girls Hailee honestly is a more tolerable Bebe Rexha. They're both pretty desperate for success, but Hailee's music is a lot more listenable. It's a shame she wasted the Starving momentum on a basic song like this. Like, this song isn't super relatable, especially if you're a dude. I guess the Anti-Most Girls are just average and **** message is interesting, and the beat is kind of jungle like, but that's it. But still, as she has shown with Love Myself and Starving, when she has a good song, she smashes it. She needs better material ASAP. First of three appearances by Hailee Steinfeld 96. Rita Ora - Anywhere Rita is ok to me. Most of the songs she has released I've been indifferent about. This song is nice. She seems to be trying really hard to get a US hit so I wish her the best of luck. Only appearance by Rita Ora 95. Sia - Move Your Body Sia is Sia. She does what she wants, is a successful songwriter, can carry any song she does, and managed to find success in her 40s. This song may have flopped, but every now I bop to this and enjoy it. Sia sounds better on this than I think Shakira would have. Only appearance by Sia 94. Madison Beer - Say It To My Face I've been supporting Madison ever since I discovered Melodies. And her music has gotten more mature over time. I think personally this is probably my least favorite song from her so far aside from Unbreakable, just because it wasn't an instant like for me, but it's a grower. She still has one more song in this list. First of two appearances by Madison Beer 93. Kesha f. The Dap-Kings - Woman Kesha makes her first appearance on here with her female self-empowerment anthem. She seemed really happy singing this song and she's finally getting back on track with her career. I'll talk about more about that later but anyways, she was really badass in this song. First of four appearances by Kesha. Only appearance by The Dap Kings 92. Camila Cabello - Crying In the Club Camila has been very hit and miss lately since leaving 5H, and while this song was cute and all, it wasn't really original since it was very Cheap Thrills like. And she didn't have the power that Ed Sheeran had to make it more of a hit. But anyways, I still listen to this on occasion, and she managed to release a much better song later on. First of two appearances by Camila Cabello 91. Hardwell f. Austin Mahone - Creatures of the Night I've supported Austin since 2012, but his music has taken a bit of a hit as the years have gone by. This collaboration has been his best song released in awhile. This song started off nice but the build up to the breakdown kind of killed it a bit. Regardless, it's sad that Japan is the only place that embraces Austin. Only appearances by Hardwell and Austin Mahone Edited December 11, 2017 by MusicLoverDude
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Creatures of the Night is quite good. Also glad to see Anywhere.
Pedro Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 You actually have two songs I completely love right from the beginning: Anywhere and Crying In The Club. Not a Rita Ora fan either but that songs goes hard!
shelven Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 SOTT, Uh Uh, Most Girls, Move Your Body, Woman Great first update!
prézli Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 1 hour ago, MusicLoverDude said: we go to a member who has made better music the former. Agreed.
Hug Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I thought Woman would be higher, but maybe I'm just projecting my own feelings onto your chart. Anyway, Woman and Crying In The Club I am also happy to see Austin here, even though that song didn't make my year end.
