Gaga's MAYHEM was positioned as a favorite for AOTY 2025, but it seems critics aren't too keen on it. AOTY has released their year end aggregate list, and MAYHEM unfortunately missed the Top 50. MAYHEM only appears at the bottom of the honorable mentions list with 7 points.

She's fully entered Pink territory with that one. Musically and artistically entirely insignificant and inoffensive. Getting so stale was always the last thing I thought would happen to her.

Abracadabra, Vanish Into You and DWAS are top tier songs and the album has some fun tracks like Garden of Eden, Lovedrug and Shadow of a Man but at the end of the day Mayhem isn't that memorable and Gaga hasn't released a top to bottom fantastic album in a long long loooooooong time so I understand it missing these lists

You should maybe note that this list isn't final yet and won't be until basically every publication with even a little bit of an observable presence releases their lists, too. I think it could still make it, and I think other albums could shift; I don't expect my favorite album to stay in the top two, for example, since some lists miss it entirely (though those that do list it tend to be very generous).

GaGa has never really released any acclaimed albums except maybe TFM. Mayhem was no exception.

Only Little Monsters will tell you this album is great. It's a Born This Way re-hash attempt sonically, and lyrically it has nothing to say at all.

What's annoying is the fans pretending its a good album, I have been a day 1 listener and this is her worst album without a doubt. I am actually a big fan of Chromatica musically, even the remix album is really well done imo. I wish that album was more popular, the song with Elton is some of her best work for me and she felt in her element. Mayhem sounds like she literally asked producers to give her some old glory and nothing but Abracadabra came out strong. I literally cannot stomach any other songs on Mayhem.

Regardless of little monster propaganda Gaga is not and has never been an acclaimed artist on the level of artistés like Beyoncé, Lorde or Lana. And Mayhem is absolutely mediocre so I'm not surprised critics aren't paying it any mind.

Like why would you listen to Mayhem when you can listen to Addison?
