It's a gigantic hit in Latin America, which is where YouTube is most popular

It also has just become a big hit in Europe (it's currently smashing hard in Italy and Spain, also big hit in France and Germany). It's a big smash, just not in North Europe/english speaking countries (but still, it's getting 1M views from USA daily)

I hope he ends up going #1 on the Hot 100 as well.

The Urban haters will have a heart attack. :fan:

Well it's a good song. Not like Black Beatles, Bad and Boujee, Panda or other crap that went #1 on the Hot 100

so despacito is generally popular because it's 'huge' isn't it? or it has some sort of virality?

Nope, just a huge hit. It can't be viral cause it has been popular for a while too

I didn't remember since I forgot the existence of that song.

I will not deny there are bad urban songs, but there's been plenty of generic pop songs throughout this decade.

Most of these urban rap songs that become big nowadays are so forgettable. Just like most of those generic pop songs in 2010-2011

Which is the point I've been making to pop fans for a while now.

Some act as if the pop music the charts have shassay away was better than the current urban music. :doc:

Btw TWIL is now above SOY on both Youtube and sales. :duca: Very close on Spotify + airplay gap getting smaller by day. :duca:
