It's a gigantic hit in Latin America, which is where YouTube is most popular

It also has just become a big hit in Europe (it's currently smashing hard in Italy and Spain, also big hit in France and Germany). It's a big smash, just not in North Europe/english speaking countries (but still, it's getting 1M views from USA daily)

I will not deny there are bad urban songs, but there's been plenty of generic pop songs throughout this decade.

Some act as if the pop music the charts have shassay away was better than the current urban music.  

Btw TWIL is now above SOY on both Youtube and sales.  Very close on Spotify + airplay gap getting smaller by day.
