Save-Me-Oprah Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM No one wants to wake up to the news I woke up to this morning. No one. I was preparing my coffee, turning on wi-fi and the first thing I read is: "Wendy and Yeri leave SM Entertainment." I blinked my eyes countless times and went on Twitter just to see more and more posts about it. I couldn't believe it. My Red Velvet dream had just been shaken to its core, and there I was at 8AM, sitting in my kitchen, staring at the screen of my iPhone in disbelief. I know this may sound a bit too much but… Yes. Tears started falling from my eyes and they wouldn't stop. I don't consider this to be an overdramatic reaction like many of you might think. I look at it as unconditional love, dedication, and passion. Something unexplainable. No one can truly translate love or admiration into words. Some people just reach your heart, and you don't even know why. And while I'm fully aware that Red Velvet isn't disbanding—just continuing with fewer members—I also know in my heart that it's never going to feel the same again. It doesn't matter if it's Wendy, Yeri, Seulgi, Joy, or Irene. It just doesn't. I saw this group grow from five incredible individuals into one of the most iconic acts in K-pop. Strong, elegant, bold, and endlessly inspiring. They redefined what it means to be a girl group, blending dual concepts like no one else and leaving their mark with timeless music. I was obsessed, and I was proud. I've always known that K-pop groups don't last forever. That's why I flew all the way to Seoul just to see Red Velvet live last year. I knew this kind of career can be fleeting, and that's why I spent well over ₩2million on them—concerts, albums, merchandise, fan meetings, flights, hotels—you name it. And looking back, I have no regrets. I gave them everything I had, and they gave me so much more in return. They reignited my passion for music and fandom in ways I never thought possible. BoA, CL, Taeyeon—they're all icons, but this was different. This was personal. Anyone who followed Red Velvet closely knew something was shifting. Wendy had been branching out musically, and Yeri had been shining in acting and variety. There were signs. Subtle ones. But nothing prepares you for the real thing. I'm not here to speculate or judge what happened behind the scenes. I just want to make one thing clear: Red Velvet will never be Red Velvet in the way we knew them again. And that's why it hurts. My Red Velvet dream—the one I've held onto for so many years—has ended. And I wasn't ready for it. Especially not after they just teased a comeback. And no, I'm not turning my back on Wendy or Yeri. This must have been a difficult, painful decision, but I understand what it feels like to outgrow a space that no longer fits you. Sometimes, you just have to take that leap. Still, I always try to look on the bright side. I will support Red Velvet as a group, and I will support Wendy and Yeri as solo artists with all my heart. They've had a profound, beautiful impact on my life. Red Velvet… Good luck. Wendy and Yeri… Good luck. Thank you for giving me the ultimate fan experience. Thank you for your inspiration, your music, your magic. "Dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb Dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb" — Red Velvet, "Dumb Dumb" 11

Wendy had plateaued with SM and Yeri was never going to get a real debut. As long as SM manages to get out once or twice yearly RV comebacks (and actually shell out funds), Reveluvs will probably be in a better position. Wendy is going to end up in some company where she'll at least get a few years of consistent releases. This won't happen. SM is actively blocking SHINee from activities. They all signed up for every SMTown concert and were denied. Jinki has solo concerts in some of the same cities just days apart from the shows. SNSD were barely able to force forever 1 to happen despite being the most beloved GG of all time, having most of the members in-house, Tiffany being the founder/director's favorite idol, Sunny being his niece, it being a milestone anniversary, and Taeyeon repeaking when they made plans. Red Velvet isn't going to get better treatment than SHINee and definitely not SNSD. It's really over. **** SM Edited yesterday at 02:27 AM by Ubermensch 3
starstruckaj Posted yesterday at 02:27 AM Posted yesterday at 02:27 AM Teared up on the way home listening to Cosmic, we really not gonna see OT5 again until 2029 damn it all 3
Save-Me-Oprah Posted yesterday at 02:30 AM Posted yesterday at 02:30 AM SM had Oh!GG under contract for 6 years before Susan left and they released three (3) songs. Is that really the bar? 3

Look what happened to Shinee and EXO..... still better than blatantly disbanding? red velvet, twice and blackpink has all did everything they had to do in the last 9-10 years. girl groups has expirations, members are always supposed to move on and pursue what they genuinely love as soloist after a decade+ of dedicating literally their entire lives to their groups

It really isn't because it allows all parties to gaslight fans into holding out hope for group activities that aren't coming, so that we stay invested in solo careers we would otherwise eventually lose interest in. Khia EXO members constantly tease group cbs only for one of the famous ones to say the opposite a week later. If Red Velvet wasn't getting the support they deserved from SM when ot5 was in house, they won't suddenly invest that money and time into the group now that there's two extra layers of negotiations and scheduling to go through. Ubermensch Posted yesterday at 03:22 AM Posted yesterday at 03:22 AM (edited) I hope Irene knows that she was one of the greatest leaders in the history of this industry. They always get coworker group drags but even if that was true, the way she advocated for her members was really special. 3 of 4 Big Bang members are childhood friends and don't have each other's backs nearly as much. the good guy_duh Posted yesterday at 03:25 AM Posted yesterday at 03:25 AM Irene is my bias, but I will not be supporting OT3 in any other way than streaming, that is if they decide to release anything as a trio 2
Ubermensch Posted yesterday at 03:38 AM Posted yesterday at 03:38 AM (edited) Stinks fighting for their lives and even their favs' scandals are a less impressive, watered down version of CLs Luvies learning that Yeri and Wendy actually can just say goodnight Once really won the war like we always knew they would but never wanted to admit @MonsterNavy Edited yesterday at 03:39 AM by Ubermensch 2
