If she hasn't yet, she's very well on her way to doing it.

Ariana isn't anywhere near Gaga's level

Yes :rip: all of her era's have been hugely successful and although she might not have a peak as high as TFM, thank u next was still pretty massive. Plus, she has never stooped as low as Gaga has. Everyone thought Eternal Sunshine would flop, and it ended up being bigger than every Gaga album since 2011.

Gaga: impact

Ariana: quality, success and everything in between

Talent wise they are on the same boat.

The verdict is yes!

Of course!

yes, and? (solo): #1

Die With A Smile (Bruno Mars featuring guest performer Lady Gaga): #2

we can't be friends (solo): #1

Disease (solo): #27

JFAD box office opening weekend: $37.7m

Wicked opening weekend projection: $120 million - $140 million

Like come on... they're lightyears apart. Ariana is clearly the bigger star.

Ariana is far more consistent and I think wicked has pushed her over the edge. Ari is bigger

No. Gaga has (at least) five songs more recognizable and iconic than anything Ariana has done musically.

If both were to collab again, we all know who will benefit from the other. Hope that answers your question

The benefit being Ari getting a Grammy :coffee:

Yes

We can see it when Ariana gave Lady GaGa a number 1, Ariana made charity with chromatica, like Rain On Me is the song that gets more streams

In 2024 Wicked is acclaimed and successful, while Joker: FAD is by the far the biggest bomb of the year, the answer is obvious.
Same goes for Eternal Sunshine and Harlequin.

Gaga's peak still makes it pretty even imo, but I would still say yes at this point.  Ariana has been consistently successful since her debut, had a big peak with TUN, and arguably re-peaked this year, whereas Gaga took a nose dive after her first 3 years and then sans ASIB, has been declining since.

Idk, her impact/influence is definitely different than Gaga's. It's interesting to see tbh. But she already has had more successful albums than her. I don't think she's even had one flop era yet and she's about to be on her 8th album. And now with the ginormous success of Wicked and what I feel is the start of something huge. Her next album is probably gonna be huge too. :deadbanana2:

Her career really has been BLESSED more than most pop girls. Her, Taylor and Beyoncé are the only pop stars I know that have had THIS much favor with their career despite how controversial they are. Ariana has the Midas touch for sure lmao!

I don't think she has more impact than her YET because she is just now starting to diversify her career, but I will say she very soon will surpass Gaga in cultural impact tbh. Just one more album and she'll def be there.

Considering she was pretty much a B-list Selena/Demi tier pop star until "thank u, next" I would say she still has a ways to go for that/ But she's on the right track!:ryan3:

Ariana is on track to surpass Gaga in the next couple years. Gaga's my OG fave but her output has been glacial for years now. She also had a really bad year so it's kind of a double whammy. She has almost no momentum going into LG7 :deadbanana2:

If JFAD hadn't imploded we wouldn't be having this conversation IMO. Disease flopping was expected, seeing as she hasn't taken her pop music career seriously since 2016

how many did she get for jFAD

Agree with the overall answer of not yet, but she will, I think Gagas peak both music and acting wise was bigger and that's why she's still bigger

but two more years where Ariana has another ES/DW level of success album and Wicked Part 2 being as big as part 1 in the BO and critics circles will definitely put her ahead Gaga

She has a long way to surpass Gaga

movies: Gaga is an oscar nom and 2x golden globe and bafta winner etc

music: Gaga's record sales are still way higher

in conclusion Gaga is the 5th greatest popstar of the 21st century for a reason

thank you next

*edit so yes at least in terms of awards and recognition, Gaga is sort of still way ahead of any of the other pop girls. Maybe Billie and Adele come close with their song Oscars but they don't act

You do know that Wicked is significantly larger than any other pop girl film, right? Only The Bodyguard and 9 To 5 can compare.

Ariana has been bigger than Gaga every single year in the last 11 years so I'm inclined to say Ariana will surpass Gaga to the extent it has not happened already.

Agreed. Gaga's peak was huge and absolutely dwarfs most of Ariana's career, but Ariana's longevity is formidable.

I don't know. Gaga is on the same lane as Britney and Beyoncé whereas Ariana is like part of another generation. I think it's hard to say something like this.

I think this is fair and it's fair to say that the time when both artists peaked has greatly affected how their metrics look (Gaga in the digital era and Ariana in the streaming era). Still, Gaga's career is only three years older than Ariana's. Gaga just feels like an older artist than her peers because she was an icon instantly whereas most artists took a long time to achieve that.

Gaga's film career is not great. ASIB was a #21 film of the year but did excellent due to its low budget. House of Gucci did mediocre and barely pulled a profit. Joker: FAD is one of the most expensive bombs in box office history.

Wicked has outgrossed and outcharted every Gaga film already and Wicked 2 will do the same next year.

No.

She's still catching up

TFM alone is still bigger than anything Ariana has ever released...

and we don't even talk about Tour Gross, Awards, etc

An R-rated musical (not associated w an established Broadway hit, mind you) grossing 440m$ in 2018 is more than just "excellent due to low budget" let's not:rip:

Arianators can enjoy this win but let's see if she has the range to sustain a career before making sweeping statements like this:rip: Liddos got cocky after ASIB too and look how well that worked out for us.

I'm surprised so many people are saying yes, but I agree, Ariana's career is simply more consistent and she keeps repeaking. Gaga is a household name though, it's like asking who's bigger— Cher or Madonna?

The answer is factually Madonna, but basically everyone who knows Madonna knows Cher too. Once you entire the level of fame that Gaga and Ariana have, it's basically a moot point with who's bigger.

Literally no actress in the world expects Oscar nominations for every single movie. Not Meryl Streep or Nicole Kidman or Viola Davis or Kate Winslet or Cate Blanchett or anyone else.
