k4rmabutterfly Posted December 5 Posted December 5 After ES + Wicked, it's safe to say Ariana left Gaga behind? Discuss… 3
duybeeGAshantiGA Posted December 5 Posted December 5 (edited) I stan both. But by your logic Gaga had ASIB before Ari so if anything Ari is catching up not surpassing. Edited December 5 by duybeeGAshantiGA 2 1 4
Pheromosa Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Not yet but in the long run, maybe so. Everything the girl touches turns to gold lately. 3
shyboi Posted December 5 Posted December 5 only in cinema, music, tv and perfumes but NOT in the beauty industry since HL is way more profitable than R.E.M beauty, so there's that 3 9
shoganai Posted December 5 Posted December 5 At this point she hasn't been surpassed only on pr paid charts. 1
Timber Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Honestly, I feel like Wicked has nearly doubled Ariana's greatness. It's tough cuz Gaga has such an impactful past. Perhaps close to even? 6
Blue Monday Posted December 5 Posted December 5 (edited) I don't think so yet, but she is definitely more consistent than Gaga. Winning an acting Oscar would push her over the edge though Edited December 5 by Blue Monday
Arthoe Posted December 5 Posted December 5 The question is TIRED. Ariana is a superstar in her own lane, just as Gaga is. 5
BowWow Posted December 5 Posted December 5 It's so hard as Gaga was so impactful and had such a huge peak both in music and later cinema But Ari has never had a low point like Gaga has in terms of her career, and her consistency and longevity is incredible. 4
hawx23 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 (edited) Maybe at some point but not right now. Gaga got these for ASIB: Academy Awards (Oscars) - Won: Best Original Song for "Shallow" - Nominated: Best Actress Golden Globe Awards - Won: Best Original Song for "Shallow" - Nominated: Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama BAFTA Awards - Won: Best Film Music (shared with Bradley Cooper and Lukas Nelson) - Nominated: Best Actress in a Leading Role Critics' Choice Awards - Won: Best Actress (tied with Glenn Close) - Won: Best Song for "Shallow" Screen Actors Guild Awards - Nominated: Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role Grammy Awards - Won: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Shallow" - Won: Best Song Written for Visual Media for "Shallow" Other Notable Awards - National Board of Review: Won Best Actress - New York Film Critics Circle: Won Best Actress Additional Recognitions - Gaga made history as the first person to receive a Best Actress and Best Original Song Oscar nomination in the same year. - She became the first woman to win an Academy Award, Grammy Award, BAFTA Award, and Golden Globe Award in one single year for her contributions to "A Star Is Born". She got these for Gucci: - Golden Globe: Nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama - Screen Actors Guild: Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role - Critics' Choice Award: Nominated for Best Actress - New York Film Critics Circle Awards: Won Best Actress - Iowa Film Critics Awards: Won Best Actress (IFC Award) - Satellite Award: Nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama - BAFTA Award: Nominated - Palm Springs International Film Festival: Won the Icon Award *edit so yes at least in terms of awards and recognition, Gaga is sort of still way ahead of any of the other pop girls. Maybe Billie and Adele come close with their song Oscars but they don't act Edited December 5 by hawx23 10 1 3 1
wish Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Close to it. Gaga had a much bigger peak, but Ariana has shown much more consistency and longevity. I'd say if Ariana comes back even harder with her next album, she will officially "surpass" Gaga. 5 1
byzantium Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Ariana has been bigger than Gaga every single year in the last 11 years so I'm inclined to say Ariana will surpass Gaga to the extent it has not happened already. 5
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Ariana been bigger since like 2018. Gaga's Peak was obviously bigger. 2
blackoutbritney Posted December 5 Posted December 5 They both have very similar career trajectories but are both in their own lanes
bjorn Posted December 5 Posted December 5 This year? oh definitely! Both musically and movie wise. overall? Not yet. Might be after she wins an Oscar and after Wicked part 2
Princess Aurora Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I don't know. Gaga is on the same lane as Britney and Beyoncé whereas Ariana is like part of another generation. I think it's hard to say something like this. 1
Filpo Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I think so. Gaga's first bang can't be matched of course, but she struggled a lot along the way and still does, while I think Ariana's constant growth (she was always succesful and yet she peaked with her fifth record!) makes her a way stronger artist. 1
Riverbank Posted December 5 Posted December 5 If both were to collab again, we all know who will benefit from the other. Hope that answers your question 1
