We know she sucked. We didn't pick her, and she was wildly unpopular in the 2020 primaries.

The Katy drag oof :deadbanana2:

He's totally right tho and the fact that a fairly prominent figure on a major network is saying it, especially since he tends to echo what a good chunk of the party thinks, gives me hope that we can stop the right-wing pandering.

The only viable alternative is a leftist platform with a matching candidate. No more centrists!

The point is all the handwringing over dems needing to appeal to the right/centrists undeniably failed since someone who just ran exactly on that lost in an embarrassing way for the party. The amount of people who lean right and will vote for right-lite over the real thing is... low, and shoving the wants of their own base clearly led to low turnout.

Centrism, neoliberalism, and overtly trying to appeal to the right in the way they did reeks of establishment status quo, which this country is rejecting more than anything. Populism is king and progressive policies are broadly popular when they don't get labeled as such. Dems don't need to shift right. They need to clean house, have a total image overhaul, find new and compelling faces, and run of a platform that would appeal to their base and to the general public (and progressive policies overwhelmingly DO).

I knew Kamala was going to lose when her closing message was "the Cheney family is voting for me!" Literally who did she think that was going to persuade? :rip: Democrats lose every single time they try to be diet Republican, but they never learn.

So what is he suggesting then, that if Kamala was more 'leftist' and talked about trans people she would have better chances to win? That's not why she lost...

As if someone more left would have fared better... Bfr.

She had an uphill battle and would have lost even more if further left. Granted that's all hypothetical at this point.

Saying Harris lost this election because she wasn't left enough proves that some of the political takes on this website are as delusional as the pop ones.

The graph you're sharing quite literally proves that the concern was economic and dissapointment in right-wing Democratic economic policies.

The way gays automatically think lefty ideals revolve around their blue hair and their 100 tumblr genders. No. Populism is not just the trans and non binary stuff. It's a Class war. Not a culture war.  The culture coincides with it sure but the extremist gays did too much. Don't forget the gays were  the ones performing sexually explicit drag shows in front of kids (Yes they are real) and  jockstraps at pride and the gay parents bringing kids to pride knowing this (etc.)  That's why the country is exhausted by us gays.  We did too much. The most. We need to realize we are too much. tone it down. The world doesn't revolve around us and we can't force our lifestyles onto others.

From my understanding, abortion rights were protected in several state constitutions this election (even in states that went to Trump, which is wild), minimum wage increases were approved in two states, and sick leave was expanded in three states. I can't remember which ones because a bunch of your states just blend into one for me, but you can google it.

Anyway, my point is, progressive policies were approved by voters and they still overwhelmingly rejected Kamala. She did NOT run a progressive campaign, and Biden is one the worst presidents you've had in some time. Instead of listening to voters, especially over the last year, Dems kept admonishing them online and are now gloating about all the horrible things Trump is planning to do, rather than learning from their mistakes.
