Doesn't take an expert to google information that's available for anyone to see.

Like others said, I think prices rising has caused people to only buy records from their absolute favorite artists.

Infinite variants made it uncool.

Y'all just say anything at this point :rip: Trump could be winning the election, it would be because of variants somehow.

This is interesting because as someone who listens to vinyl, I've also bought less this year.  I bought TTPD and SNS.  I would have bought CC but it was missing those songs and I would have bought Brat but I am genuinely not sure if it would even sound good on vinyl.

Taylor made them uncool

And without Taylor's 34903247509237509475094375603476893478957349583748963498756395902709745073875347509347609370563758963894 versions the whole vinyl industry would be dead and gone by now. So, thank you, Taylor.

Can you stop making every thread about Taylor?

Ot: It's because of the prices. There's absolutely no need for them to be so expensive. Also, for a lot of people new to vinyl collecting, it was about completing the collection of their favorite albums. Many of those collection have been more or less completed now, and new releases can only do so much to keep the sales up.

TS only released once this year

Imagine thinking Taylor saved the vinyl industry when it survived through the CD craze of the 90s and 00s on independent artists and local stores alone. Mainstream artists like Adele and Taylor are the ones that blocked and postponed the production of those independent records when vinyl became trendy again. So yeah, she saved nothing.

Time for a CD revival. If western artists would start designing theirs like K-Pop artists do it could be the next big thing

I mean, considering the insane prices some of these artists charge for them, I'm not surprised at this.

when I made the switch from collecting vinyl (which meant buying one or two albums I liked per month at most) to collecting CDs (sometimes getting 20 used CDs for 50 bucks) I was so happy lmao. And while vinyl is no doubt a gorgeous physical format, there is also something about the all-cardboard packaging that makes them extremely fragile. if a CD case breaks, you can literally replace it.

im not trying to persuade anyone from switching, any physical media collecting is dope buT I do think CDs have become extremely underrated as a physical music format since the vinyl boom.

Not to mention, all these new albums have digital masters. It's actually a negative to buy the vinyl for listening purposes at this point.

CD gang all the way.

ikr? I really detest cardboard packaging, even in CDs. It's just impossible to maintain if you use your CDs often. :gaycat6:

Vinyls look really pretty but I can't see the appeal at all. Streaming platforms are the most convenient way to consume music but I find CDs pretty cool, I have a walkman and I can play my CDs everywhere. :gaycatina1: Also I don't know why but only standard editions are available on vinyl for many CDs I love... and I'm a sucker for bonus tracks so that's already a big turn off... plus how expensive they are like many fellow ATRLers mentioned.

And again the music industry destroyed something cause the greed for money got out of hand. I used to collect vinyls but stopped a year ago cause I couldn't justify spending so much money on it. New vinyls here cost 40€ upwards for a plain single lp pressing :deadbanana:

It also feels like the market got oversaturated, there's way too many variants, special editons, repressings etc to keep count and I feel like people get overwhelmed and then just stop collecting alltogether.

the usual OTH running in here as if Taylor isn't the reason for the vinyl renaissance and even now by far still the biggest seller

the actual issue is that vinyls are just a trend. they no have no practical advantage and once the hype dies out so will they. maybe the girls will start collecting vhs tapes next

The price is crazy. I've tried to start buying vinyls because they look beautiful but it's exhausting seeing how expensive they (and everything else) is right now.

It's such an overrated physical format if you ask me. CDs >>>

Like when I tell people I'm a record collector they always assume it's vinyls. EVERYONE collects vinyls and doesn't know where to store them. No ma'am, I have almost 800 COMPACT DISCS. :foxaylove2:

The resurgence of vinyl sales is one of the dumbest trends in consumerism imo. So many of y'all buying these pieces of plastic don't even listen to them and you're not any cooler by having a shelf of them (especially of lamestream pop stars lolol) collecting dust in your dirty shoebox $1500 a month apartment

My small Italian town's music store has ALL the Godney CD singles imported from Germany, I'm lucky to be in the right place :clap3:
