Phaunzie Posted September 28 Posted September 28 (edited) I would say both, because why not. 143 gave me everything I need so I can't be mad at it flopping. Unfortunately, LMs got a side project instead of a Gaga exclusive, which sucks for them. Hopefully, it will satisfy them until late 2025 or next year. Edited September 28 by Phaunzie
Flame Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Sorry, but 143 has at least a few songs I really like in terms of mindless pop so she's my girl.
lg6chromatica Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Why are we comparing an album of jazz covers - THE OPENING TRACK ALONE IS A COVER OF A SONG FROM 1939! - to an uptempo pop album of original songs that had months and months of promo? Wait til LG7 in February if you really want to make a fair comparison indicative of nothing but your joblessness. 1
Gottasadae Posted September 28 Posted September 28 143 is not actually that bad how critics are trying to paint it If you remove a Luke name from credits, it's easily a solid 60-70
dussel_06 Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Both FLOPS. Katy is not considered as an MPG anymore and is set to very low standards. And yet she managed to do worse than what is expected of her. Gaga was held to a higher standard since she's suppose to get people check her songs based on her name alone, regardless of the genre. And yet she's doing at par on Katy's new flop album I mean, real music supremes like Taylor, Beyonce, Adele and maybe Rihanna, can release their farts and it would literally outstream both albums. And yes, that's not a delusional statement.
Jay07 Posted September 28 Posted September 28 (edited) Considering the investment and expectations attached to each project, I'd say 143 is relativrly the biggest failure and was a significant setback to Katy's career. Harlequin was praised for Gaga's artistry and is setting her up nicely for her pop album. Edited September 28 by Jay07
Shimenawa Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Both failed but GaGa is a jazz side project while Katy it is her main album

Sannie Posted September 28 Posted September 28 the delusion and cognitive dissonance it takes to be a katy perry fan in 2024 is MAGA levels at this point. lady gaga is at a point in her career where she has quite literally accomplished everything a popstar can accomplish so she can release pet side projects aimed at fulfilling her own creative desires to make herself happy. katy is at a point in her career where she had to sell her catalog to pay the bills, run back to a rapist, and spend 3 months begging 350,000,000 americans to buy what ended up being, like, 30k copies of her album. gaga can announce her album five days in advance, do a few interviews, and then move on with her career. katy is forced to work like a drug mule to push so little copies and receive so little streams that it will take her a literal century to recoup the millions she has lost. gaga's project was a low risk, high reward venture that yet again proved her versatility and talent while katy's project was a "do or die" situation that ended her career. at this point, can the kats just go back to bragging about 'roar'? it was much less embarrassing that way. 4
modeblock Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Katy out flopped because of the $$$$ involved. Gagerz, her movie abloom is just for the fanszzss and a cute little bonus for the movie and her role. It's not a major pop release like #143 was, which has now publicly bankrupt Capitol Records.
Maroonx Posted September 29 Posted September 29 143 will go down in history as the biggest flop for a throwback mpg x 1
CherryBay Posted September 29 Posted September 29 H considering promotion movie already charting song movie etc
