Popboi. Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Considering the replies, are you sure LA is the problem? 1 8
Gesamtkunstwerk Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The first time I went to US I went to LA, seeing at all the drugged people on the ground in their tents, knowing if you take a 20 minute drive, there's people living in extreme luxury, excess and more money than my entire bloodline have ever seen, was perplexing to say the least, really matured my view of humans So in a way, yes The weather, beach and food was good tho 1
AshleyLovescats887 Posted September 23 Posted September 23 You ate those flops up, but ngl i kinda wanna move to New York or LA some day
alfonso12 Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The fact that you thought of that when there's places on earth where they kill you for being gay. I love LA, such a fun city, but I've only seen is as a tourist, I'm sure living there would be a different experience. 1
Mr.X Posted September 23 Posted September 23 IT absolutely is, the most pointless and stupid place on earth, probably only challenged by Las Vegas or the state of Texas 1
nadiamendell Posted September 23 Posted September 23 LA is truly one of the worst big cities in the US. I have a hard time even calling it a city. Just a bunch of suburbs smashed together in a car-centric hell hole. It has natural beauty around it, for sure, but the city itself is a mess.
Illuminati Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) I don't know, people wouldn't be flocking there if it was that bad. I feel like the US has some seriously underdeveloped dead areas that are far worse Also your replies don't really match their energy, save it for the trolls. Comes across as try hard Edited September 23 by Illuminati
Pheromosa Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Are you happy with those comments? I think you deserve to stay
Vrx. Posted September 23 Posted September 23 It's kinda hell on earth if you're around people who care for the touristically optic LA. The city has beautiful areas and so many districts of Asian American and Latin culture. If you're going for what you see on social media it will be miserable, ultra crowded, and dirty. Overall though it has its odd charm. 1

Thank you though, I think I will stay a bit longer! 2

Each neighborhood is distinctively beautiful, so easy to commute, fast paced city that is truly always alive and the least judgmental city I've come across that has room for everyone. Be prepare to make decent money though or you'll have to share a shoebox with 5 people in a 5 story walk up 1 1
Yawn Posted September 23 Posted September 23 i still can't comprehend how people go anywhere or do anything due to it being so spread out with no public transport whatsoever.. the amount that i spent on uber was ridiculous 2

DAP Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Car centric cities are shite yeah. A completely siloed existence for anyone that doesn't want to be forced to own a car but has no other options available. It's why I could never live in LA (or most of North America ftm) but I'll still visit as a tourist at some point just to say I've been there. I'm moving to New York next year and I'm excited but the genuine fear I've gotten from transplants that think I'll get robbed or killed. Idgaf I'm ready for the change of pace 1

If you navigate like you know what you're doing you won't be messed with, they tend to target tourists and the unassuming. Even the subways are full of people at all hours of the night I would reccomend living as close to a station as possible. Excited for you!
ontherocks Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Well, Lana Del Rey aka God lives there, so it's the best place on earth 1
Cyanide Posted September 23 Posted September 23 I like my neighborhood (Los Feliz) but yeah there's a lot of nasty areas, I've been spending a lot of my time outside LA cos it's kind of depressing in a lot of ways
byzantium Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Out of the major cities in the world, LA is the worst I have been to. It has all the charm and culture of an American suburb. It is certainly not on par with Chicago, New York, Mexico City, etc. Is it the worst place though? Not really. It just is a place that has squandered all of its potential in a truly tragic way.

Idgaf I'm ready for the change of pace I'm 99% sure that you are more likely to be killed by a car in a car centric suburb than get robbed or killed in New York. I think people are really bad at understanding statistics and they hear something like "a murder happened in Queens" and get scared and don't understand how there are 10 million people in the city.
Jotham Posted September 23 Posted September 23 I love Los Angeles. It gets a reputation for being "fake" but that's only for a few places in the Westside, most people I met while I still lived in the city were very warm and friendly. I also just love the sheer diversity of the city. I also think that LA's public transportation gets too much hate. Yes, it needs work and is far inferior to NYC's, but you can still get from place to place without a car, especially if you live next to one of the major rail lines like the Expo.
