technoprayer Posted September 10 Posted September 10 This girl will remain neutral about everything involving politics to keep her "perfect" image. I hope she knows baking cookies isn't enough. 2 2
Goaty Posted September 10 Posted September 10 She needs to wait. Just endorsing out of a reaction to Trump's AI repost probably wouldn't be the most strategic play here.

liquiddiamonds Posted September 10 Posted September 10 It's clear she will announce her support as a huge moment near the election. If Taylor were a Trump supporter best believe Trump would've flooded social media with it. He has mentioned the opposite… I don't think she's the most progressive person, but definitely not a Trumpster by her history. Tone deaf and rich enough to not care about micro important things in politics? Absolutely. But then she's a pop singer and I think americans need to start detaching their celebrity culture from important political matters

This has been stated repeatedly all over ATRL at this point, but we do not know if, or to what extent, her legal team has taken any action or communicated with the Trump campaign about that situation. It is legally largely untested territory and whether she has grounds to threaten a lawsuit is unclear at this time, especially to those of us who are not her lawyers. I've also seen people fairly note that giving Trump the attention he was clearly seeking with those images may have only played directly into his hands and exacerbated the situation. These factors combined, I don't think it's right to assume her silence on those images means what you seem to think it means. Let's not forget that we know how this woman feels about using her body and image for one's own purposes after the Famous video - it makes no sense, given the context surrounding the situation here, to jump to a conclusion that she's actually totally fine with those images. 3
Sazare Posted September 10 Posted September 10 She's probably one of those social liberals/fiscal conservatives, and unfortunately I think we all know where her loyalties lie if she's forced to choose between her heart and her wallet That being said I fully expect her to endorse Kamala eventually. It's just not good optics that she's been out partying with Republicans. 2

I agree, though I do think it'd be unwise for her to wait too much longer, as voter registration deadlines in at least a few states close more than a month out from the election. 1

Silence = complicity! Sorry! LOL! Because she has LITERALLY had her publicist raise her hand over more innocuous **** yet for once she doesn't want to say something! When it LITERALLY would be so easy to when people with less industry and societal capital than her have and have done so promptly! 3

When it LITERALLY would be so easy to when people with less industry and societal capital than her have and have done so promptly! Okay, sure, total silence is indeed complicity. And like I just said, she literally may still be planning to say something around the dates when it would be most impactful and/or safest for her fans to do so. You're just assuming in advance, without evidence and contrary to her own past pattern of action, that's she will remain completely silent. The most likely times for her to make a clear and unambiguous statement are National Voter Registration Day (a week from now), close to when Tennessee (which she considers her home state) closes registration, or when the tour ends just before voting day (which I feel would have the most actual impact, and which she may feel based on her Vienna statement results in the least security risk for her fans). This is based on her own past statements. Trust me, I want her to speak up - the gravity of this election is not lost on me, and I don't want to dedicate a meaningful portion of my life and time to someone who would allow harm to me and to broad marginalized communities come to pass. But I am certain she will, at the right time and in the right way, do the right thing. 6 1

It's becoming less and less acceptable to support Trump because "you support a strong economy" when so much of his campaign is built on disgusting racist tropes and downright lies. I usually try to steer clear from "all Trump supporters are racist" generalizations but supporting Trump is THIS environment? IDK yall. Look at what Ted Cruz posted yesterday. There is a sickness spreading in the MAGA Camp. If Taylor had any interest in separating herself from this type of crowd now would be the time to do it. At this point, when all Trump and his groupies are capable of doing is spitting hate and bigotry and rambling about 'illegal aliens' and 'taxing china' rather than focusing on actual policies to help the economy and American people, there's no room in my life for anyone who condones that sort of behaviour. Taylor, regardless of whether she is a republican now, demonstrated her cis, straight, white privilege by hanging out with that trumpie, because at the end of the day trumps policies don't affect Taylor like they do the vast majority of the country. 3
diemoehre Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) I feel like her public stance on politics is always influenced by the people around her. I imagine the football crowd is more conservative and she doesn't want to lose her new bestie Brittany Mahomes. So she just stays silent on these things and pretends this is a normal election with a normal republican candidate who doesn't want to strip certain groups of their rights. Which is a shame but she has the luxury to do so because she is a billionaire. Edit: luckily aged like milk. Edited September 11 by diemoehre 1

Doctor Dick Posted September 10 Posted September 10 How can anyone stan a woman who will only speak out when it affects her brand? How about speaking out because it's affecting your fans' lives? Oh right, your #1 priority is not to be a good person but make money. But when the doors start slamming in blondie's face she could very well be very sorry she didn't speak out now. 4

kimberly Posted September 10 Posted September 10 She's not a Trump supporter, clearly. She's just a rich white woman for whom the election result is meaningless. She'd rather keep her TTPD-variant-buying, Eras Tour-streaming fandom intact, because a huge chunk of her American fan base is voting Republican (or married to/children of Republicans, who might control their spending). She's complicit. Using Vienna as an excuse for her new Nazi bestie is an ugly move, btw. 3

Buffy Posted September 10 Posted September 10 This country is in serious trouble if you think a celebrity needs to speak up at all to sway voters or motivate people to go out and vote.

Maybe, but with how much fervor the media writes about anything she does, the slightest condemnation of Trump in any capacity is going to be seen as an endorsement of Harris. Perhaps she and her team want to wait to comment on both? Hard to say
