Sugden Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) The Mahomes hug isn't the only evidence people are citing to suggest Swift, who endorsed Democratic candidates in 2018 and Joe Biden in 2020, might be leaning to the right now. There's also the fact she was tight-lipped when Trump recently shared a bunch of AI-generated images on his Truth Social platform that implied Swift and her fans were endorsing him. "The Swifties for Trump movement is real!" the post, originally created by a murky rightwing non-profit, read. "I accept!" Trump wrote above the fake photos. A presidential candidate using your image without your consent to claim you support his racist and regressive views is a big deal. If you think his views are abhorrent, you'd want to publicly distance yourself from him, right? There are scores of famous musicians, from Céline Dion to Beyoncé, who have made it very public that they don't want Trump using their music at rallies. "Don't even think about using my music, you fascists," Jack White said last month, after a Trump aide used a White Stripes song in an online video. White added that he would sue the Trump campaign. If you're angry a man like Trump is associating himself with you, then that's how you act. Meanwhile, various media outlets reported that Swift's "spokesperson did not return multiple messages seeking comment" after Trump posted the fake endorsement photos. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/sep/10/is-taylor-swift-a-trump-supporter-internet-theories Edited September 10 by Sugden 5 2 6 6
Breathe On Moi Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I mean, some points are actually made here 11 2
Digitalism Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Ok this is everywhere now. I thought it would stay ln twitter. But her fans don't care. She will be fine
Popular Post Burn Posted September 10 Popular Post Posted September 10 Oh lordy. This story just isn't going away is it and Taylor is allowing it to get bigger and bigger the longer she doesn't say something. 14 2
Popular Post KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 10 Popular Post Posted September 10 it is remarkable that The White Stripes sued Donald Trump for using their likeness for his campaign and that Beyoncé sent out a cease and desist letter after he posted a clip with "Freedom" playing… but Taylor chose to remain silent when Trump posted AI art with Taylor's likeness to promote his campaign. 14 2 3
Femininomenon Posted September 10 Posted September 10 We all know she is going to find a way to benefit from this "controversy" 5
Popular Post Navyboy20 Posted September 10 Popular Post Posted September 10 MAGA is getting more explicitly racist and disgusting with each passing day. It's becoming less and less acceptable to support Trump because "you support a strong economy" when so much of his campaign is built on disgusting racist tropes and downright lies. I usually try to steer clear from "all Trump supporters are racist" generalizations but supporting Trump is THIS environment? IDK yall. Look at what Ted Cruz posted yesterday. There is a sickness spreading in the MAGA Camp. If Taylor had any interest in separating herself from this type of crowd now would be the time to do it. 9 6
State of Grace. Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) I think you should add these parts from the article: Quote To be clear: I don't think Swift is a secret Trump supporter. She's been critical of him in the past, after all. But it can't be stressed enough that Swift isn't a billionaire just because she sings catchy songs. She's a billionaire because she is a brilliant businesswoman who exerts meticulous control over her personal brand. Everything she does is intentional, done with the knowledge that her fanbase will scrutinise and attempt to decode even the most banal action like it's the Rosetta Stone. One imagines the reason her spokesperson didn't comment about the fake Trump photos wasn't that they were too busy, it was that they'd decided silence was the savviest choice. Swift may have endorsed Biden-Harris in 2020, but that was a very different time. After the George Floyd protests, "Brands, which often remain silent when it comes to social justice issues, began speaking out," a 2021 AdAge article noted. They did so because they knew that being in tune with the zeitgeist was good for their business. Now companies are being targeted by the right with boycotts and harassment if they align with progressive causes. That bullying has worked: industry experts have warned of a worrying trend of brands taking significant steps back from diversity and sustainability initiatives. Swift is one of the biggest brands there is; it's only natural she's shying away from politics. That said, I hope Swift proves me wrong and speaks up this election cycle. We live in a world where everything is political. Swift isn't avoiding politics by staying quiet: her silence speaks louder than words. Anyways, the writer really didn't say anything that we haven't said here. Taylor is not a Trump supporter (unless you're a troll arguing in bad faith and you've already decided that she is one), but the silence is not a good look. It's clear that the media won't shut up about it until Tree sends them a statement or Taylor herself tells Trump to **** off again. Edited September 10 by State of Grace. 3 1 1
gustavothehuman Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I don't think Taylor is a Trump supporter but the truth is that she doesn't give a sh*t about anything as long as it doesn't affect her career. Tickets are still being sold, albums are still smashing, so she's just going to ignore all the noise. 5 3
réveuse Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Swift's silence is deafening. The violence and bigotry from the Republican Party has increased rapidly, and she still has not said anything about Trump's false AI images and her cozying up with Brittany Mahomes (MAGA). 6 1
Vegvisir Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Today just keeps getting worse for the hardcore Swifties 5 1
Princess Aurora Posted September 10 Posted September 10 That pic gave me a nightmare If she really was, it'd be the biggest cancel event in celebrity history tbh 1
ChooseyLover Posted September 10 Posted September 10 This would be fun if Taylor was actually a Republican but she's not. I'm starting to think the Dems got it so bad they're pushing media outlets to fuel the fire so Taylor endorses them as soon as possible She's just a celebrity for god's sake... 1 3
By the Water Posted September 10 Posted September 10 The way even Trump knows her political stance but ATRL doesn't Imagine being dumber than Trump 6
BlahBlahBlah Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Is Taylor Swift a trump supporter? Obviously not. But I do agree that she is essentially like any big brand or corporation, she'll only speak out when culturally pressured or if there is something to get out of it. 3

Whether coordinated by some party or not, these think pieces are definitely being done with the intent of getting her to speak out sooner than she already would have (her past track record suggests she would have spoken next month, around when voter registration closes for Tennessee for the November elections, but the Instagram post after the Vienna situation tells me she might want to wait until the last night of the tour, two days before voting day). They know she's not actually a Trump supporter. 7
NEX Posted September 10 Posted September 10 This has gone out of hand now I think she's not making public statements about the AI use because she will endorse Kamala a few weeks before the election for maximum impact. If she took an anti Trump stance now her endorsement impact would be dampened. Public relations aside, all wealthy people benefit from conservative parties' policies, so won't be surprised if most of them are rooting for Trump anyway. 1
Flanders Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Maybe she's planning on being the October surprise of 2024. That would be quite a moment
