Was 'Flowers' Miley's Last Hurrah?

Flowers was a huge success for Miley but nothing released subsequently seems to have stuck. Do you think Miley has another hit in her or will Flowers end up being her Believe?

I've learned to never count anyone out in the streaming era, so no.

I mean Flowers was literally only last year so it's a bit soon to say 'nothing else has stuck'. :rip:

She already had another cute hit.

She is one of those stars to stay.

If she can successfully come back once, then she can do it again.

It's really just keeping an ear out for a next potential hit and releasing it.

She'll get another smash hit in 2033, so no.

The post-Flowers singles may have 'not stuck' but they only look like "underperformances" in comparison to the monster smash that Flowers is, which preceded those singles. Flowers gave Miley a resurgence in commercial performance. She got cute top 40 and top 60 singles in River and Jaded (which kept repeatedly re-entering Hot 100 at one point) (both 100M+ streams on Spotify, eligible for platinum) and a decent top 10 in Used to be Young (200M+ Spotify, eligible for platinum/2x plat).

Then the droplets. Doctor, although it was #80something-OUT, had a decent Spotify debut. II Most Wanted from Beyonce's album went top 10 and is almost at 100M on Spotify.

So while there may be moderate performances in the singles (sans Doctor), it is a HUGE improvement over Miley's last 2-3 eras (Plastic Hearts [which did have Midnight Sky and Prisoner with Dua Lipa, and the sleeper streaming hit Angels Like You], Younger Now, She Is Coming). Her post-album singles or singles other than the lead single did not do as well as the ones from ESV.

Flowers is too big of a hit to match with a follow-up. But she has more hits in her I believe.

I never understood why this was chosen as the second single considering they both hate promoting, not even with a music video.

Miley has built a career on proving people that she is here to stay despite their disbelief on her. People thought she was done after Hannah Montana because of Can't Be Tamed's underperformance, people initially thought We Can't Stop wasn't going to be a hit before it's video, they thought Wrecking Ball was going to be her last hit, no one believed in Plastic Hearts after the string of bombs during 2019 and people, including her own fans, didn't think Flowers was going to be the biggest female hit of the decade.

The truth is that the answer to this question depends on Miley. Flowers will probably end up as her biggest chart hit, but she still has in it her for more commercial success if she puts her mind into it. All she needs is the right music and timing. Most of the post-Flowers singles were met with negative reactions even among her own stans and, to make things worse, she didn't even bother to leave her house to promote them, so it's understandable that songs like River and Doctor didn't exatcly click with the soccer moms that are still spamming Flowers to this day.

Party in the USA was her last hurrah
Can't be Tamed was her last hurrah
We Can't Stop was her last hurrah
Wrecking Ball was her last hurrah
Malibu was her last hurrah
Flowers is her last hurrah now

Ya'll never learn

This and it's because Miley still has interest from the GP. So if she'll release something catchy it could be another hit for her.

I think Miley could have a hit again if she released another song with actual hit potential. She's still really popular despite the fact that she's been underperforming for years. The problem is she had nothing to follow flowers up with that was gonna do well with the GP but even her songs that don't smash tend to do well long term because she's so well liked.

Mildred definitely still has a few hits left in her

"Nothing has stuck" and it's only been a year. How about we wait until she actually starts a new era before the dramatic claims

I still keep hearing Used to Be Young on the radio

I keep reading about her last hurrahs... She is still active and as long as a recording artist is active a resurgence can always happen out of nowhere.
