I used to be a lurker hence why I recognized it :rip:

I FRIGGIN LOVE that my avi low key became iconic and u remembered it lol :heart2: . I remember how disruptive it was when I first joined this site in like 2014, the drama, the hate campaigns, the fights etc...ATRL was so different back then when ppl could recognize each other just by our avis and we all kinda viewed each user as their avi itself :rip: :lmao:

I don't feel like it was ever a concern for her, tbh. She's the type of artist who just loves making music, and is happy to stay under the radar and support herself with touring.

For those who don't know her I can't recommend her music enough. It'll be like finding a diamond mine. She puts out so much content and it is so diverse and high quality.

I've been lurking for years but was too hesitant to sign up given that I used to have a legitimate addiction to online forums dd. I'm glad I signed up because I'm truly making some awesome connections and am happy to be here

For those who are reading this and have never checked out Lights PLEASE listen to this user. I would check out her debut or Siberia considering they're her best imo, but each album has something amazing to offer.

My queen :jonny5:

I stanned her SO hard when I was young, saw her live like 10 times. Was so sad she never made it "big", I was OBSESSED with The Listening and Siberia.

Her electro influence in her early days was absolutely everything.

OT: She was never signed in the US (right?) (even though she always toured worldwide). Her presence felt way too local to Canada.

Lights was always an iykyk girlie for the emo girls and gheys. Siberia is still one of the best albums of the early 10s, I went to the tour, it was a moment. Never really kept up with her after that tho nn

The title track, Toes, Everybody Breaks a Glass, Banner, Flux And Flow :jonnycat: And I can still recite the bridge of Ice nn

I was living in Canada when her debut album came out and was obsessed with this bop

It went platinum on my little green iPod nano.

She definitely deserved more success.

Her best song :jonny5:

I recommend Her little machines music if you like more modern pop sensibilities

Her first album is very bedroom indie pop sounding. Easy listening and nostalgic of mid-2000's Electronic music.

Siberia is the fan favorite and was when Dubstep was at an all time high, but she went crazy and actually made catchy radio pop type music to the hardcore electronics. :jonny6: I recommend this classic.

And her last Great album in my opinion. She made an entire comicbook and published it, as each song tells the story of it. It's a wild concept, but she keeps the youthful pop sound that made her.

Just some recommendations to see if you might want to give her another try

Honestly as a Canadian her music never stood out on the radio.

February Air was that ***** though.

I've loved her since the February Air Old Navy commercials, but she never felt like she would have had hits in America. I think if Owl City had brought upon a change in mainstream sound in the direction of Fireflies, then maybe she would have fared better. But to me she always gave "underrated pop queen." Her music had huge appeal with all the straights guys I'd hang out with too!

yesss I'm so glad you made this thread @YourFavoriteWeapon:heart:

honestly I think Little Machines was the perfect conceptualized breakthrough era if they gave her more of a chance in america. Up We Go is the PERFECT summer single, like of any genre. Running with the Boys being pop perfection too, in a Cool by Gwen Stefani new wave nostalgia ballad way, at that. just a perfectly conceived era, and a true electropop/new wave bible that has aged like WINE! I spin the album front to back regularly these days, cause it's simply banger after banger. I love her other work too, though I must say that Pep is my least favorite unfortunately :tornado: I just think it feels a little half baked at times. Beside Myself is magnificent and just as good as Running with the Boys, but the rest of the album is a little bit lacking, though seeing her live a few years back helped me appreciate it a bit more. I'm very excited for what she's cooking/teasing at the moment cause it's verrrryyyy Little Machines-reminiscent. I'll always listen to whatever she puts out though, cause she's simply brilliantly talented and ALWAYS is sticking to her guns and following her inner voice. an incredible artist :clap3: Siberia is also so f*cking good and unique

I'm glad to see some Little Machines love :clap3: Don't Go Home Without Me is a masterpiece. I also am bummed to hear you don't like PEP that much but I know it was very divisive. I personally love it (Beside Myself, Prodigal Daughter, Salt & Vinegar, Okay Okay, Nd Rent are all amazing imo) but I hate Money In The Bag so much and Voices Carry is a snooze so I agree that it does contain some weak material.

I was really into her when her debut came out. Idk I guess she just fell off because I haven't heard or seen that name in like a decade :skull: she had some great songs though. I feel like she should be up there with Marina/Ellie and the other girls that popped off during the tumblr era but I guess not enough people knew of her. Savior and February Air were those songs back in the day :jamming:

I don't know why she's not bigger, but she'll always be my fave. Little Machines is it. I cannot wait for her new stuff, the teaser is so good. She always has been truly authentic and does her own thing, sometimes I think those types of artists have less luck, but she really deserves it. So much talent in one person. She has a side bass project too, under the name Lūn.
