Katy.Kat.23 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Yall talking about her getting dropped and needing to retire when she's still in the top 30 of monthly listeners on Spotify
Grizzo Posted August 11 Posted August 11 to me she feels like a product of her time, like when i think Katy Perry, i think about the 2010s and fun times i had when i was younger…… but i know those times are gone now and i don't think she has it in her to evolve or give us anything interesting anymore she's just trying too hard to be cool and down with the gays but it's just not working for me 1
slw84 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Yes and that's ok. She needs to come to grips with the fact that she built her career to serve as a 2010s relic...not a longevity built artist. She dominated pop music but not pop culture for people to want to follow her journey or story so not evolving correctly makes it worse. Add on the Dr. Luke CHOICE...she CHOSE to work with him when her main target demo is females and gays. Straight men just want her to look hot but are not going to support her other than a video stream or an occasional audio stream but not consistent like gays and women. With many in both dealing with trauma and misogyny it was a slap in their face to work with Dr. luke ON PURPOSE. didn't she have the nerve to call one of her eras Purposeful pop or something. The irony is not lost on me.
Badgalbriel Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Just because it's over sometimes it means it's really over
prézli Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I think she was loved on American Idol, so no, it's not over. But she should do something different than music.
Sugar-Rush Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I feel like this thread is 7 years late. But yeah her music career probably won't ever recover and if Play's box scores are any indication, she'll likely struggle to sell tickets to her next tour as well. She's good for a throwback though.
