Yes, once she realized she needed every single stream she added those flop tracks :ryan3:

They aren't on the streaming version. Nice way to expose yourself as being clueless though.

Kats will 100% lose any right to talk about "relying on collabs from more relevant artists for a hit" if Gimme Gimme somehow manages to be a hit (and by "hit" I mean doing better than top 50 on BB100). Not like they had any right in the first place considering she's put out 11 collabs as singles post-Dark Horse, but anyway :ryan3:

Did any of those collabs carry her album? I think not.

Yes.

Witness Spotify streams without collabs: 280 million

21 Savage gets ~16m daily on Spotify on average, Katy gets ~9m on average. If anyone can get her a quick top 40 this era it's him. Thank you 21 Savage. :worship2:

A quick lil rap feature on a main track is not the same thing as getting one of the biggest pop girls in the world to co lead your second single.

21 savage is not as hot as y'all think he is

nobody is gonna check out a feature from him, especially on a katy perry song

Sorry there is no backtracking now. Y'all made "collabs don't count" your religion the past 5 years. 21 Savage is bigger than Katy. The difference between "X (feat. Y)" and "X & Y" is meaningless when it comes to whether something does well.

Will this even chart? It's serving Bubbling Under #25.

Can you believe it? :ahh:

Maybe the lead single off 143 will be her next Song presented at the VMAs? If true, congrats on that Vanguard Award, I love posthumous career awards.

Is he capable to make Gimme Gimme go top 40? And chart more than 1 week?

I'm hopeless truthfully

If I'm not mistaken, NRO, Small Talk and Harleys in Hawaii were songs that she released to "test the water" after Witness era. The whole aesthetic of these songs were something like a boho/hippie chic, nothing like the circus/clown thing that Smile went.
The rumor said that, since any of them became an instant hit, the "project" of the album that she was building with these songs changed and then Smile happened. Since any of the Smile singles achieved success neither, they included the three songs on the tracklist. But I don't know id it's true.

This is all correct. When NRO flopped with the GP, Small Talk was rush released to try and save face. When that flopped, HIH was released to save face. It didn't flop as bad, so it allowed them to save face and change the planned album to what would become Smile.

I've definitively been too kind to the Smile era :rip:

Wait until you find out that Smile was supposed to be the lead single of Smile and it featured... wait for it... Diddy :rip:

The demo leaked and I'm pretty sure that's why they chose Daisies to be lead single. We all were confused as to why Diddy was missing from the album version which was almost the same as the demo that leaked. Especially since his feature added a nice touch much like Snoop did to California Gurls. Well, now we all know why they took him off...

(further proof that industry people knew Diddy's behavior for years and said nothing)

Want to hear about more train wrecks from this era?

NRO was almost a clone of a Dagny song (Swedish pop star) and went viral with people accusing Katy of plagiarism. Katy called Dagny to apologize and claim she never heard her song and that she would give Dagny songwriter credit as an apology and to avoid a lawsuit.

Rumor has it that Zedd was responsible for the plagiarism, as he was known at the time for copying other artist's beats and style and changing it just barely enough to be different.

You are making things up to a level where it's crazy, lmao. They got Dagny permission way before the song release. Katy didn't have to call anybody and apologize for anything, and definitely didn't say she never heard the song. Literally WHAT are you talking about. :deadbanana4:

"It was the start of this year that suddenly there was a call from Katy's team," Dagny tells Radio 1 Newsbeat. "They said 'Hey, we've made a version of Love You Like That and we want to give credit where credit's due'. "I think it's very good of Katy's team that they did it the right way," Dagny tells Newsbeat. "I was just kind of happy for the song that it could be part of something bigger."

What i still don't understand is: why did she run back to Dr L*ke just to release the worst singles of her entire career? Like, if the music was GOOD that would be something but that's not even the case. Those two singles are so boring and uninspired, ANYBODY could've produced that.

This is what really gets me. If she was going to go back to Dr Luke, she should have known that the material better be some of the best she's ever made. The "how could she go back to Dr Luke!!" posts would always be there, but they'd be drowned out by people bopping.

The fact that the two songs we've gotten are not only NOT among her best material, but are actually the WORST material she's ever put out....yeah it's time to remain on Planet Unbothered. It's over.

At this point, she needs to shave her head and dye her hair back to blonde. She was performing better when she looked like that. Might as well give it a try.

Idk anything about the NRO/writing credit stuff but the P Diddy collab was definitely real and it was on vinyls of the album

The Diddy collab is true but it being the original lead single and only being replaced by Daisies because of the leak is false and to claim that Diddy was removed because Katy's team knew he was an abuser is completely made up. Look at the credits of his last album. He had A-listers all over that. My personal hypothesis is that Diddy himself pulled out because the song was about to come out a few weeks after the George Floyd shooting and the optics were BAD. Or it was a money thing or label politics of course. The Chance the Rapper feature on Witness also fell through, it's not because Capitol had dirt on him :toofunny2:
