Katy Perry - "Lifetimes"

Element
Message added by Element,

Please keep discussion in this thread focused on the song. Discussions about Katy Perry's larger scale career/choices, and other artists should NOT be done here. There are plenty of other places to do so on ATRL. Thank you!

Why are you bringing random promo singles from 2017's Witness when talking about this decade :deadbanana: just leave the thread

They're literally obsessed. Like it's kind of sad to be that obsessed with a singer who you don't even like :rip: They don't have ANY thing else to do a Friday night...

HIH and NRO are not from this decade.

Smile? Bomb.

Daisies? Bomb.

Save As Draft? Bomb.
Hey Hey Hey? Bomb.

NTEOTW? Bomb.

When I'm Gone? Bomb.

Woman's World? Bomb.

Lifetimes? Currently bombing harder than Woman's World.

:ahh:

Smile wasn't a single.

Save as Draft wasn't a single.

Hey Hey Hey wasn't a single.

NTEOTW wasn't a single.

Lifetimes isn't a single.

But Katy did it best.

Doing something better than Bebe Rexha is like the bare minimum though. :cm:

This song was so uninteresting for GP that they didn't even dedicate an article to it on Wikipedia on the day of its release. :rip:

You know what's insane? If Dr. Luke had absolutely zero involvement in this project (143), then the reception for both songs ("Woman's World" and "Lifetimes") would be vastly different. Sure, people wouldn't be calling them career highlights of Katy's or anything like that, but I GUARANTEE you people would be able to bop along and hope for them to be successes while admitting they enjoy them to a fair extent, or at least until they officially flopped. But because she chose to work with him again, people are automatically dismissing any positive aspects of the actual music and hating it all from the get-go.

I am by no means not saying none of your criticisms are valid, but let's be real: Most of you are shallow and can't tell the difference between a fun, harmless bop and a great song unless the actual numbers are there to influence your opinion.

That's not true sorry.

ATRL and Twitter are not the real vision of the public.

You will go out and ask about Dr. Luke and - expect for some gays - nobody will even know who he is.

The public will accept a good Dr. Luke song, no matter if it's with Katy or any other artist. But WW is just a bad song, that sounds very AI involved.

Lifetimes is a lowkey better song but also here it lacks.

Katys biggest problem: during her entire career she relied too much on Dr. Luke. He was her formula for hits. And this formula is dead since a long time and she failed to switch it and just try a new direction, with some fresh producers and songwriters. Otherwise, why would she release a Dr. Luke song as a lead? She was still hoping for a 2010s moment and obviously she failed.

People will remember her for Teenage Dream album, Roar and Dark Horse and that's fine. But the big hits time is over.

She is quite erudite in pop culture and is well aware of all the undercurrents. At the same time, she rejects all trends, goes against the grain and makes this antique nightmare from the summer of 2009.

Does she think it's 2012 or what?

Everything about it feels so uninspired and the video looks like a cheap version of TD/HIH :deadbanana2:

She needs to shelve this whole project and start over cause this ain't it...

Just watch the video a major red flag for her making a cheap ass Run Away with Me video. :clack:

she was #76 yesterday with 10.8M daily streams. She rose to #56 and the artist that was #56 yesterday did around 12.5M so idk… maybe 1.4-1.5M?

Like ok we get it. Katy is flopping and she's had some flops. Now what do you want us to do with this information?

Katy is still insanely rich, successful & highly remembered. She still gets more daily streams than your fave.

We will just enjoy the music for what is is since charts was never in question.

Just reiterating and listing previous 100 Katy flop songs is just annoying, repetitive and mundane at this point. 🥱

Capital FM UK are still playing womans world

Seeing as UK radio is the only place LIFETIMES will be a smash, they need to get on board

No shazam debut is not very reassuring either - i wonder if they are testing the waters with this or if they'll just move onto another song
