Kevin Parker should leave the pop girls alone. He's a great artist but he's a very mid-bad pop producer. Thats factual now:giraffe:
He is like william, jack antonoff or bloodpop. Just go away

The people who are acting like her singles this era were successful are desilusional :gaycat5:

Dua also needs to recalibrate her vision again.  The concept of a psychedelic album? Nothing interesting about that.
I knew it would be a flop back then when this album was announced. I had a bad feeling-omen.
Look for a concept with more appeal gal. The future nostalgia was just perfect.

Hope the next album is better. She also should change heir hair color. Revamp her style.  Maybe blondie-green hair-maybe brown hair. Better makeup too. Back to black hair

I think she should move to a dancehall or r&B tropical record next but clubby. Or something more european folky or maybe uk garage. Work with djs. Dont know. Max Martin???  The next album should also have a diverse set of producers like future nostalgia. Not only one main producer for the whole record :gaycat4:

She also should release the new album next year or in this 2026.  Longer album too but not overbloated like tay or beyonce.

I just don't understand why she straight up lied about the sound and genre of the album, as if we'd never hear it and realise for ourselves.

Britpop? Psychedelic? Literally where :rip:

Of course the whole era was super mismanaged by her incompetent father and it didn't have any proper hits to help it out. I'll be interested to see her UK numbers since all of the singles went top 10 here and Houdini and Training Season were pretty successful.

I think there's been a lot of criticism of her sonic evolution (or lack thereof). No the singles don't sound like Future Nostalgia (apart from maybe Illusion) but to your average listener, they all just sound like Dua staying in her comfort zone. I think the album as a whole suffered from this too. It was nice but...that was about it. No massive standout moments, just lots of very laid back chilled music, which isn't really where she excels.

This makes me think there was a second ACTUALLY psychedelic album that got quickly scrapped for some reason, and replaced with Solar Power (Dua's Version)

They need to do something quickly. Book every promo slot, call the Albanian mafia. Leak Dukagjins nudes. Whatever it takes :jonny2:

but flop or not i still love it

What's next? Warner dropping her. She has had more inversion than any other pop star in the last 5 years and for nothing. She has no persona or stardom and she still relies in her label to achieve a hit, not sales, not organic success not audience interest…they can't  burn tons of money in playlist and radio for every of her singles indefinitely.

I don't mean that Warner will fire her but they will try to find another pop girl that is able cause a genuine interest in audience (apart of a small group of gays)

16mln with 2 songs on TTH?:bibliahh:

Terrible numbers. But I'm not surprised, the singles were making zero noise. Also, it doesn't help that Dua is the laziest pop girl alive, where's the promo? Painting with Trixie? She needed to be humbled.

The album isn't bad, it just sounds very similar and kind of chill. She needed bigger choruses.

this is SAD because she's the only current active MAIN POP GIRL who always serving

The album was horribly mismanaged both from a PR and a promo standpoint. All the talk about psychedelic this, rave that did not help when it's a bog standard dance pop album. Also, she felt weirdly absent during this whole era and the giant lead time into the album didn't help as hype was decreasing with each single. Get TaP back, I don't care if they were stealing from her, they know how to manage careers unlike her father. Just make a banging dance album and put yourself out there as the hottest, most desirable popstar in the world. She has everything going for her and I have no clue how they dropped the ball this bad, this album is certainly better than Witness. It's what happens when you make an inexperienced family member manage the biggest popstar in the world.

It's easier than that , she just needs to make a "loose" sounding album full of Maneaters , promiscuous , good things come to and end" and then some dance bangers ala "the way I are"

You're being extreme. She's still several tiers above the likes of Bebe and Ava who're still supported by their labels

These Walls is on TTH? Oh this is bad. Like really bad. But I think people are being overdramatic with the state of her career. She just released a bunch of passable pop songs trying to create a cohesive body of work with Kevin Parker  and Danny L Harle but she shines as a writing camp singer. She should've just released the best songs given to her. This mid album underperforming doesn't mean the top level of writers and producers won't still be lined up to write for her, once she puts out another undeniable hit she'll be fine

Posted

She's still the biggest female artist under Warner, they will support her next project no matter what but they will definitely have more control over the creative process

Posted

The psychedelic britpop experiment would do much worse :rip:

She just needs to let go for the retro sound altogether

they need to put the whole album on TTH
