rihannafan Posted April 30 Posted April 30 I had forgotten that Cornelia Street is the worst song of all time 3
QueenBLadyG Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) It's not her fault that those are the two places where drama happens, and it happens to rhyme. Edited April 30 by QueenBLadyG
Da Vinci Posted April 30 Posted April 30 She's alcoholic and she loves a man who can drive a car (Fearless, Treacherous, etc.)
Soda Pop Queen Posted April 30 Posted April 30 So I'm assuming she became a lush around the time of Reputation since according to the clip, that era was the earliest use of the rhyme with 'Getaway Car'.

Vespertine Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Thematic in songs that are all about the same person (Karlie) 1

The setting has been established! You do not need to tell us you are in the car, as you have already implied as much! I always sing it to myself as "I say casually in the dark" which helps to further establish the setting and mood without repeating details. Oh blondie… Her pen was truly at its weakest then, even on one of the better L*v*r songs, my God 3
mael Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) This is so 2010 Speak Now era backlash… I suppose they were just born back then… Edited April 30 by mael
Taylor fanboy Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) I can't believe I once thought that Corny Street was a career highlight. Edited April 30 by Taylor fanboy 3

TaggedGalaxy Posted April 30 Posted April 30 The excellency in those songs, she should reuse the rhyme more

There are a few redundancies in several songs that bother me. Like why are her "tendrils tucked into a woven braid" on But Daddy I Love Him? Aren't all braids woven by definition 1
JoeAg Posted April 30 Posted April 30 i use the word "perigee" in 6 or 7 of my songs but yeah… idk this isn't the quickest thing i'd resort to when critiquing Taylor's songwriting. it's not a huge deal imo, but i'm also someone who doesn't give a f*ck about rhyming in my own lyrics so idk
Taylor fanboy Posted April 30 Posted April 30 NOT us swifties dragging her harder. Who needs haters when you have fans like us. We really deserved But Daddy I'll Tell Mine You're Gay. 2
Goaty Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Also the syntax of "somewhere back inside a room wearing a gown shaped like a pastry" on Speak Now is so poor I have to remind myself the room isn't the one wearing the gown Love her and her songwriting but she's definitely not perfect! Nor would any sane person expect her to be 1
