It's not her fault that those are the two places where drama happens, and it happens to rhyme. :coffee2:

She's alcoholic and she loves a man who can drive a car (Fearless, Treacherous, etc.) :michael:

So I'm assuming she became a lush around the time of Reputation since according to the clip, that era was the earliest use of the rhyme with 'Getaway Car'.

How hard is it to rhyme cars with Sars? :celestial5:

The man who wrote "What?! YOU EGG! [slaps him]" was also silly and goofy and playful at times, just like Taylor is. :clap3:

The Cornelia Street one has always gotten under my skin. You already said you were in the backseat! The setting has been established! You do not need to tell us you are in the car, as you have already implied as much!

I always sing it to myself as "I say casually in the dark" which helps to further establish the setting and mood without repeating details. Oh blondie…

Her pen was truly at its weakest then, even on one of the better L*v*r songs, my God

This is so 2010 Speak Now era backlash… I suppose they were just born back then…

I can't believe I once thought that Corny Street was a career highlight.

Damn. This isn't primary school anymore where you have to tell the teacher every small thing. :deadbanana2:

Cornelia Street has too many words.

Agreed. There are a few redundancies in several songs that bother me. Like why are her "tendrils tucked into a woven braid" on But Daddy I Love Him? Aren't all braids woven by definition

i use the word "perigee" in 6 or 7 of my songs :ryan3:

but yeah… idk this isn't the quickest thing i'd resort to when critiquing Taylor's songwriting. it's not a huge deal

imo, but i'm also someone who doesn't give a f*ck about rhyming in my own lyrics so idk

NOT us swifties dragging her harder.

Who needs haters when you have fans like us. :deadbanana2:

We really deserved But Daddy I'll Tell Mine You're Gay.

Also the syntax of "somewhere back inside a room wearing a gown shaped like a pastry" on Speak Now is so poor I have to remind myself the room isn't the one wearing the gown

Love her and her songwriting but she's definitely not perfect! Nor would any sane person expect her to be :giraffe:
