Why does Beyoncé never sell as much as Taylor?

You listen to albums for dancing and performances?

Don't play cute. The OP brought up the tours.

Bey could sing all of Taylor's songs without breaking a sweat. Taylor couldn't even sing the first song on CC.

It boils down to what bey's songs are about. These days it revolves around celebrating black culture (love it), and touting/flaunting her own status and greatness (like apeshit). The latter is fine, but like some posters pointed out, not the most relatable listening experience for the gp.

If she continued making Sasha fierce type of songs she'd be way more popular but this is the new trajectory she slowly embarked on since self-titled. Lemonade was a masterpiece tho.

Taylor sings about heartbreak and relationships, which is a formula that sells since the beginning of time. People can relate to it.

It's all about branding. Beyonce projects herself as similar to royalty & her talent & skills match that in her live performances & albums.

While Taylor gives more local blonde headed White girl from down the street owning 5 cats writing about her long list of bad boyfriends that did her wrong.

Taylor's branding is more digestible in the current music climate with everyone trying to be relatable nowadays tbh. Taylor keeps this facade up even when being a Billionaire:rip:

I also peeped how other stans stay using fraud sales information/ Undercertified sales of beyonce to make her numbers as a solo artist seem low. Anybody with a lick of sense knew for years that Bey was undercertified by a lot. It took until 2022 for her to finally update her certifications. Mind you beyonce certifications that her team updated  was still undercertified.  At the end of the day we know Taylor Swift sold more records but she will never have the respect or talent that beyonce has. If T swift becomes a Vocalist out of thin air then I would take Y'all seriously. Other than that .......

If Beyoncé tries to act regular, there will be viral hate tweets saying "she don't know who she is" 😭

there's one thing i can't take seriously, and that's when people try to say that Beyonce's music is bad or that Taylor Swift makes better music than Beyonce. like, we all have ears... they try to make Taylor look more talented, but i've never seen that anyone mention anything other than her songwriting, which is not even that good most of the time and sometimes even horrible ("karma is my cat" as mentioned above)

anyway, i'm ready for this thread to be closed. there's too much racism already

Nothing Beyonce has done post-4 has been genuine. Like, I'm sure she never steps in the studio just to vibe and see what she can come up with. She collects her team and asks everyone for suggestions as to how she's gonna shock the world, or so she thinks, but you get the point. "oooohh, I'm gonna do country now. That will gag the girls. Yeehaww"

It hasn't been about the music for a very long time now and once the initial buzz regarding the gimmicks/shock value settles, you realize that's all there was to it.

Because more people can relate to Taylor singing about their exes and love songs than Beyoncé uplifting Black people and feminism?

And Beyoncé doesn't have to sell as much as Taylor considering 80% of her peers and current artists couldn't do half what she does WITHOUT lifting a finger (Beyoncé just opened larger than SZA, Billie, Ariana, Olivia and all those TikTok artist).

Taylor Swift is the most calculating woman in the pop  industry ever. Y'all just say anything.

If that's the case then 99% of black rnb female artist should sell over 1M every album.

Beyonce left the basics alone after 4 and I'm glad she did. They couldn't appreciate an actual mature r&b album because of the obsession with electro pop music. I'm happy Bey stopped catering to boring Middle America. Taylor Swift being the most famous female pop star is hysterical but it shows how bland people are.

Well exactly! There's always a "point" to what she does which I find extremely off-putting. The intention behind her albums overshadows the music itself.

How can't the same be said??  This is a woman who has multiple multi-platinum and #1 albums & singles that span across decades now. She is still being compared to artists who were infants or not even born when she debuted with DC4. Someone who is cited as an influence by multiple successful artists. Someone that the legends who came before her respected as well. Someone whose albums, tours, and projects garner critical acclaim. She has outlasted almost all of her peers ESPECIALLY her R&B peers and has continued to push the envelope even when she no longer needs to. The *receipts are there, yall are just too hateful and idiotic to be rational about it.

I'm sorry, are you a Taylor Stan? Because what a ridiculous hypocritical comment if so.

I mean American Requiem alone could turn people off from listening to the entire album. I WAS SCARED when I'm That Girl was the opener for RENAISSANCE.
