Cloröx Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Both artists are impressively successful. Both fanbases are happy to invest on their faves, if BeyHive choose not spend too much then it's okay as long as they happy with it, same as Swifties they are working hard to buy something they love (as Swifties myself I don't buy any of her albums except folklore). My concern is why certain fanbase are caring so much on what BeyHive/Swifties spending on, we never hire you guys as our financial consultant 1
Weld_E Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Because Taylor has two qualities that Beyonce will NEVER have: Spoiler Blue eyes and white skin 2 3
Into The Void Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Because her nusic is more attainable. Beyonce is riskier. Its logic 1
Asscatchem Posted April 19 Posted April 19 taylor panders to middle america, upholds the status quo and doesn't rock the boat beyonce being a powerful black woman already threatens people 1 1
Love4Janet Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) Despite her claims otherwise, Beyonce never was and never will be that girl Her career is pretty similar to Selena Gomez. Famous, but nobody outside of their fanbases know their music Edited April 19 by Love4Janet 1 1 3
GreatestLoveofAll Posted April 19 Posted April 19 musically she makes music that both her fanbase and the Gp can digest easily. this doesnt take away from her artistic merit generally but its the best answer i can give based off what ive heard. i mean, there are young teens my age that will play a taylor song from now with ease and not care for anything beyonce has released past 2009. and yeah, these are often people of color too. the moment bey stopped catering to pop radio (4) and rejecting the traditional rollout and release expected of an artist of her caliber of success (self-titled) she alienated a LOT of people from all over the spectrum and population. its the price she paid for being the most quintessential artist of the 21st century but despite that, she's done very very well. 1 1
QueenBLadyG Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) Taylor is white, and representative of the all-American girl next door. She's relatable, and isn't controversial nor is she intimidating to the average person. They look at her as a friend, sister, daughter, niece, granddaughter. Parents feel safe letting their kids listen to her because she's innocent enough, and sure to not be too bad of an influence or bring a child too much out of character. The Black woman is literally the most disrespected and disparaged person on the planet, already making Beyoncé have to work harder for anything she has. And, believe it or not, people don't like to see a beautiful, successful, talented and rich Black woman getting praise and adoration on top of all the other things they already don't think she's worthy of to begin with. She threatens any and everybody, including Black people who create bleaching, illuminati and devil worshipping narratives around her. Edited April 19 by QueenBLadyG 4 2

Chris Posted April 19 Posted April 19 The amount of stupidity in this thread. People invalidating Mariah Carey's blackness. If you don't know anything about race, keep your comments to yourself because you have no idea what you're typing. 1

Plenty of people had no idea they were supporting a biracial artist. 3 2

Wicked Posted April 19 Posted April 19 The way this is Pop world/ATRLs version of the decade long Kendrick vs Drake stan wars Similar points and everything. Anyways as it's been said Swifts music isn't as challenging to listen to. Easier on the ears and because of that has wider appeal. 1 1
Fleahive Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Why is this 13 pages long? 2020s: why isn't _ outselling Taylor 2010s: why isn't _ outselling Adele 2000s: why isn't _ outselling Britney 90s: why isn't _ outselling Spice Girls There's always someone more popular
Archetype Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Taylor has been the biggest female artist on earth for the greater half of the past decade. Beyonce is incredibly successful in her own right, but no one comes even close to the success Taylor has.

Polgg48 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 market competition from destiny's child, you got xscape, tlc, and bunch of teen groups bleed them out. then, ashanti, alicia key or jlo were threat to beyonce on early mainstream stages and rihanna catching up later. 10's you got new wave of r&b sound started from frank ocean and sza also push beyonce out of trend and she decided to make her own works until now. only taylor threat is carrie underwood and that's it
BnPac Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) It's the highest compliment that the "biggest artist since the Beatles" just released her album and the biggest thread in the base related to it is about Beyoncé. Edited April 19 by BnPac 1
Bacardo Royale Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I don't think it's a race thing otherwise all white artists would be outselling Beyoncé - Bey is doing way better than any artist white or black from her generation. FORTY years ago Michael Jackson was out here outselling every white artist by miles and his numbers still haven't been topped. If the music hits you will sell regardless of race. Taylor might be the most beloved artist right now but that doesn't take away from Beyoncé's tremendous success.

You do understand the experience of lighter skin women, that are more white passing are different to the experience of women that African features are more noticeable right? No one is invalidating her blackness or saying that Mariah did not also have to overcome barriers. But her experience are not the same as Beyoncé who is darker, and has more African features. 3
