Navyboy20 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Anyways Taylor Swift sells more than Beyonce because Beyonce's music is political and polarizing as evidenced in this thread. Happy TTPD Day to all the Swifties! 1
Lose My Breath Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Also, I just want to say I'm not downplaying Taylor's success, she works very hard, and has mastered her brand, and it's really mind-blowing to watch.
LoveInStereo Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Everyone's aware ATP Beyoncé doesn't write her **** which would be fine if she didn't act grand & mighty about being a serious artiste. The branding has massively turned the GP off of her. Most ppl I know IRL say things like "she's good but not as good as ppl act like she is". Ppl take pot shots at Taylor for having messy/juvenile lyrics but the reality is she's demonstrating her humanity & relatability. Nobody knows who tf Beyoncé is beyond songs other people wrote for her & I've yet to see anybody successfully prove otherwise 2

gustavothehuman Posted April 19 Posted April 19 It all comes down to Beyoncé being a black woman from Texas and Taylor a white woman from Pennsylvania. Their social, political, cultural, and economic backgrounds have actively shaped who they are. 2

(See: Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Celine Dion). And Beyonce absolutely co-writes and produces her material. People don't just "give" her songs. 3 1
ToraeGilt Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Taylor swift is white and she plays it safe with her music, image and politics. Simple.
FENTY. Posted April 19 Posted April 19 To all the users saying a billionaire is relatable this is why the GP thinks stans in general are all insane 1

Also demonstrating her humanity & relatability has me screaming. There is absolutely nothing relatable about a billionaire wreaking havoc to the earth. Taylor is truly the greatest self-marketer of all time to make people believe she's their best friend. 3

Like yeah at a high level they're aware and may even make a joke or two but that would not stop them from consuming someone's music. 2
cuteboyzay Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) Cause she doesn't want to. While I do respect Taylor to some degree. Her extremmeee lack in so many departments is very reflective as to why she doesn't deserve the success she has now. I mean who wouldn't want to sell as much as Taylor when you lack SO MUCH in other departments that most of your peers have. Not having sales as your saving grace would just be flat out embarrassing af. When you're a YT woman that grew up upper-middle class whose only real current adversity in life is choosing which boyfriend to throw under the bus, or which social justice issue to NOT stick up for - even tho you are literally one of the biggest artists to ever grace this earth. I'd see why you'd need an insane amount of media manipulation, selling tactics, and lack of nuance to hide the fact that you are not near as talented as your fans would hope to believe. I think the reason why Swifties have this incredibly embarrassing confidence online is because they know that the real world does NOT agree with their opinions on Taylor. So they come on the internet to feel better about their weird superiority complex over a woman whose accomplishments are NOT their own. Edited April 19 by cuteboyzay
PrettyHurts Posted April 19 Posted April 19 17 minutes ago, KingWitch said: I already know what excuses were used in this thread but its funny because the way the media praises her above others, you'd think she had the biggest numbers of everyone idk if you know this but not everyone is obsessed with numbers there are a lot of legendary and beloved artists who have flopped and don't see massive commercial success beyoncé has had overall consistent commercial success for 20+ years and critical acclaim for 10+ years. you're going to continue hearing about her forever. 1

DiegoMarcoCMM Posted April 19 Posted April 19 She doesn't need numbers to be the relevant artist she is. 1
LosingHimWasBlue Posted April 19 Posted April 19 beyonce is local, meanwhile Taylor is global it's not that hard
bad guy Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) Beyoncé actually has **** to say and therefore stirs controversy and conversation which naturally alienates audiences. Taylor never has anything to say in her music that would make anyone bat an eye outside of occasional cringe from non-fans. Edited April 19 by bad guy 2

Villas Posted April 19 Posted April 19 is it hard to please middle aged gay men, right? you guys are never happy with nothing. 1
Pheromosa Posted April 19 Posted April 19 She sells a lot more than your faves as well, why is that about Beyonce? 3
cuteboyzay Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) Also, I just want to say that it never ceases to amaze me how long these threads get and NEVER gets closed. Because I stg if this were a Gaga vs Tay thread or a Gaga vs Bey thread, they would've shut it down after 3 pages. But this is coming from the same forum that swiftly responded to J.Lo getting a "lack of a banner" for her album to show their support for a woman in music. But when it comes to Beyoncé (a black woman) and r*ce bait threads, they turn a blind eye. Very weird tbh. Edited April 19 by cuteboyzay
