Rev8 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Feels like a Drake situation he has been so adamant on releasing constantly, that his albums are truly meh now (when he had great ones!) Tay has been feeling for me like this for some time now I do have favorites on her new albums..but overall it's a bit bland and it really does feel like she just wants to release and release (havent heard the new ones tho, but seeing the reviews..)
chiliam Posted April 19 Posted April 19 The lyrics and melody is on a whole different level. So no. It might not suit your taste, and thats ok. But factually this is at least a good album lyrically and different from her previous 10 albums.

Each new release showcases a body of work distinct from her previous efforts, with great lyrics and infectious hooks. Her ability to consistently innovate shows that she is indeed a great artist. I know for a fact that many of her peers aspire to reach her level of creativity and mastery of the craft. Wrong pic to post, Beyonce surpassed her years ago and is not her peer. blackoutbritney Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Kinda yah I think she needs a break to creatively reinvent herself like she did w/ 1989 & Folklore
Archetype Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Yes, and she needs to hire writers to help her edit if she is going to churn out albums this fast. I just don't care enough to listen to songs full of run-on never-ending sentences and fluff. There can be beauty in writing continuously and open-ended, something Lana has mastered, but Taylor is just not there with her craft. Midnights is much better to me because of the comparative conciseness and intention.
KillingYourCareer Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Her creativity is gone, she's been releasing rejects/scrapped songs (both in the form of TV's and new albums) and working with the same person for years now... but she'll always have a large army of fans eating up anything she comes up with, so she won't be declining for a while
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted April 19 ATRL Moderator Posted April 19 No. I don't think the point of this album was to push herself to a new place artistically or pivot....it's probably the most diaristic material of her career. This is her messiest, most unhinged and least filtered project to date but that's kind of the point of it. She just documented a tumultuous, messy period of her life and is laying it all out there, and I kind of love that about it. It's not going to be for everyone, but I respect it.
