Has Taylor lost her creativity/magic touch?

Surprised people are coming for Jack/the production considering I thought that was that was one of the only few interesting things from the songs I've listened to so far. The low points have actually been the lyrics. Idk why she decided to regress to her Reputation era schtick of being too literal.

The synth Pop is over used.

I believe Delicate's success ruined her.

Well from what I see most of the hate is coming from Ariana and Beyonce stans so I know the album must actually be good.  :clap3:

Can you wait until the album officially comes put to make these threads?

Some of us haven't even heard it, I wanna hear it in Spotify and not some bit torrent BS

As someone who hasn't heard anything I can tell most of the people hating on the album are people who already hated her before.

Haven't really seen any real fans trashing it other than very few isolated cases

i'm a fan since the album 1989. It sounds like Midnights mixed with Folklore lyrics, kinda Mastermindish (like Suburuban). There are some highlights tho like My Boy Only… where i like the melodies and it's catchy but as a biased fan who always liked the albums at first listen it just falls flat. It's my personal opinion tho but it's just not it.

There's a difference between the reactions of leaks and the official release. I feel like people listening to leaks are a) more critical and b) usually more unhinged in their opinion and how they share it.

Wait for Saturday to get the full picture and especially the opinions of the entire fanbase.

It can change QUICKLY.

I personally like it. :clap3:

Midnights is a great album, you're tripping

It's kinda boring, unoriginal and overall mediocre.

Yes.

The whole album is like she is just reading the lyrics. The only good moment in the album is when Florence Welch started to sing. Other than that is just a boring, bland and uninspired album.

This is such a good read :toofunny3:

It's the reason why she's one of the biggest pop stars of all time.

What is stopping Gaga then

i'm just so beyond uninterested in every album from her now basically being a nonsensical personal diary and this banal easter egg hunt frenzy she drives her fans into where probably half the things people are clamoring about have really no meaning but she laughs all the way to the bank knowing it will drive discourse for weeks and months .. it's a trite way of marketing .. and she already did the best version she's ever gonna do of it with folklore/evermore

She's going to Jack Antonoff for inspiration she should instead be going to Max Martin for, so yes.

I suspect that she doesn't have time to reboot and get new experiences for inspiration. To be honest, I disconnected from her after the Lover album, which I still actively listen to.

Definition of creativity:

the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work

It's not really creative when you work with the same people, on the same sound, same theme, over and over again.

She's replicating a commercial. success formula. There's little to no creativity.

I think it's more that she's written/released too much music in a short amount of time and a lot of it feels the same

Well here is your problem.  ATRL has trash taste.

Aren't you an atrler too tho.

OT: Yes. Taylor doesn't know how to write a song that isn't boring anymore

Not even close. She's about to release her best mainly-pop album yet tonight, and plenty of her fans will love it as they have her other records. I'd argue she's only just now hitting her stride in some ways, since this album manages to be well-written and lyrically engaging while being more transparent and honest about herself than ever. The genres and sounds will change over time - and I happen to love the current one - but her writing is the core that needs to show improvement and growth, and I think it does here.

If these last two album cycles are her just now hitting her stride...

Haven't listened to leaks, but I'm sure I will listen to the album at some stage.

I kinda thought she lost her touch with Lover Midnights, but this thread seems to be a about Tortured Poets.

Hoping for something better than Midnights.

Yes she has! Midnights was a really good album but I feel like she was going in the right direction with Reputation, however somehow she decided to go back to her typical sound just to be aligned with the gp and swifties.

that being said, the album is bad and swifties denying it are just tired and cannot be taken seriously

I'm not sure I would ever use "creative" to describe Taylor Swift :skull:

When you churn out album after album like McDonald's, of course there's no time for creativity. Like making art takes time

Yes

But when she smashes records again with this album, she suddenly regains her magic *touch*

I do find myself noticing some melodies she seems to have brought back on Tortured Poets that exist on other songs, but I don't think she lost her touch.

Other than the lyric about Charlie Puth and the tattooed golden retriever, I think her lyricism is still very strong. The Black Dog has what I find to be her best verse in her discography. I am a big fan of the album, but I do think it will serve her best to stop having Jack (and I am someone who generally is a simp for his productions) as her main producer.

It's very clear what songs are Jacks and what songs are Aarons, and Aaron's productions are much more fresh and stronger in comparison. I think a better question would be "Has Jack Antonoff lost his creativity?" and I would say signs are pointing to yes.
